Value of the Zr-1 up or down
Do you think the Zr-1 resale value will be higher or lower with the new C-7 Z06 out now.
( I cannot afford either)

Essentially the C7Z is a ZR1, just a newer improved model.
If I were in the market and couldnt get a C7Z, I would certainly try for a ZR1, any decent one I could get hold of at that!

They are trending down and will continue to do so for some time. They only made 4500 of them total (C6 ZRs that is) and GM will make more '15 Z06s than that. Hard to tell if the relative rarity of the ZR will ever provide it any value - but we're not there yet, and won't be, if ever, for a long time.
OP - wait another couple years and you may be able to pick up a ZR as they come down in price. I'd recommend it. The machine is an absolute blast to drive.

It's going down.
People won't soon care if the Zr1 is a hair faster stock vs stock. That's just the heresy of the moment. In a couple months when real owners hit the tracks and drag strip, the Zr1 is gonna be old news.
The C7 is better in just every aspect. Plus it comes with a fresh warranty.
Anyone trying to sell a Zr1 for close to C7Z06 money is gonna be stuck with it, in my opinion.
But in the end the market will speak. I am just a lurker waiting for the first used Z06 to show in about 24months. And if in 24months I can have a C7Z06 for the same price as a used C6ZR1, it's gonna be an easy decision because the C7 interior and looks is so much better, it'll also be newer and still have warranty.

It is an amazing car. But it is a GM car and going to continue to go down. Keep dreaming if you don't believe this.

All depends on two things. Are they going to produce c7 z06 s by the truckload and will they fix the tuning issues it has being slow after only three runs and this in cold weather. My oipinion the Zr1 will hold steady for awhile.Nice ones of course not beat ones with 60 000 miles.

C6 ZR1 prices have, ARE, and will continue to go down.
Add to that fact that a bunch of ZR1 owners are selling to get the C7Z that increases supply= lower price.
This is good for me, I want a ZR1,

C6 Z06's, ZR1's, no matter what level model they are they're not going to see any price increases. They are just car they're not like the housing market. Housing increase as time grows. Most cars lose they're value within a few years. You guys think that these ZR1 will go up in value, you better quit dreaming. The C4 guys also thought their ZR-1's with the all aluminum LT5 were to go up in value and most of them paid more than MSRP when they came out. These days look at what their going for now. Then you have these guys that bought them and put it in storage and look what their trying to get for them now. If you even put $20K into a CD in 1995 look where you would be today as I'm sure you would surpassed this guy that paid $70K and now do you really think he's going to even break even what he paid for this car:

Cars are a hobby, cars are not an investment period! Don't bank on these cars going up in price as you'll be living a pipe dream.

My humble thoughts....(And I currently have a 13' ZR1 Anniversary).
The more that the forums post-up on the ECU "issues", the more the Z06's are going to sit in the lots. Wait until the weather warms up and the true users of what the Z06 was meant for (road course), if the ECU issue holds, these people will not be happy at all after 10mins in a 20min session where their lap times start to decrease. Remember we are not talking a small 5-6 pulls on the 1/4 mile which is nothing compared to what happens on a road course, we are talking 20minutes on a ~2mile track non-stop....and then for multiple times in a day. (And I say "issue" because its really just how the C7 is built and ECU'd. I highly doubt that GM is going to offer a software update that will ultimately put more extended stress on the engine... not that it cant handle it....which could lead to potential failure. That would be the kiss-of-death for the line.
Net-net is the ZR1 still is proven to be better than the Z06 on the track (because there are no N'Ring times posted for the C7 Z06), plus you probably have plenty of people with extended warranties that can be xferred (like mine) so you still are covered.

Any Corvette fan that thinks the ZR1 will hold its value or actually appreciate in value is delusional. Pure and simple. It's a fantastic Corvette (all Corvettes are), but it is, in the end: a Corvette. Just because it's a special version of it doesn't bestow upon it some sort of value longevity. It'll depreciate just like the rest of 'em. Count on it.
