Default 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will use the LT4 from the Z06

http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/de...cts-v-faq.html

Interesting to see that the CTS-V is getting the brand new LT4 already. Rated at 640hp 630tq that should be more than enough to smoke the tires in a grocery getter.

GM certainly has shown it isn't bashful about putting SC Vette engines into a CTS.

However, I don't really like the hood too much.

I think it is kind of lazy on GM's part. Not real difficult to pull an engine from one and plop it in the CTS-V. My bet is a $3000 Gas guzzler tax. 12/13 city and 18/19 highway. Can't see it getting much better than that due to the weight of the car. It will also probably have the new GM ***** 8 speed transmission, that they are putting in to everything.

The days of Corvette component exclusivity are long gone.

201 MPH top speed!!
How could that happen while the C7Z is limited by 185-196 mph with less weight and extra 10/20 hp/lb-ft.
BIG fail Chevrolet!

It'll have the more aggressive, "correct" tune. Don't want to **** off the loyal Cadillac customers

That -10hp and -20lb-ft or torque is pure BS.

I'm sure that the engines will dyno equally.

That thing looks absolutely amazing.

I am really surprised at some of the comments here.

Did you know that every single "Corvette" engine that was available in the 1957 Corvette was also an option in the full size Chevy, including the 283 HP fuel injection engine.

Then in 1959, the "Corvette" four speed transmission was also available in the full size Chevy along with the "Corvette" 290 HP fuel injection engine.

So much for "Corvette' component exclusivity.

Cool sedan with a cool 200 mph top speed. Should have had AWD for market penetration....

The fact that the new CTSV with less power goes faster along with similar acceleration of the Z, but with more weight than the Z has, should be an indication of just how much all downforce on the Z is hurting its straight line performance

One more thing, the added downforce (think drag) is causing temperatures to rise faster than the Z would without all the extra downforce.

If you want a faster straight line performing Z get the "base aero"

The real question is, how will the CTSV stack up against the Hellcat?

I don't understand why performance cars like the Z06 A8 are getting hit with a gas guzzler tax. Seems to me long ago that manufacturers were doing everything they could to avoid this. It looks like performance cars are getting heavier not lighter. Look at the C6 to C7 transition. If they got the weight down on these cars thru more agressive component weight reduction programs we would all benefit. I would hate to think the C8 might weigh more than the C7.

I sold my CTS-V due to the absolutely horrific auto-transmission and the atrocious gas mileage. I loved everything else about the car; the steering and magnetic suspension were magical.

If you want to play with the big dogs (M5/M6, E63, etc) GM has to hurry up their dual-clutch development. You can't show up to that gunfight with yesterday's technology A8 and it's dog-slow manual shifts.

Here is an absolutely perfect example of why you can't put these transmissions into sporty/sports cars:

SKIP to 8min 55 seconds (this forum won't let me embed links to youtube to exact time)

Damn...

I may have to trade in the 2014 CTS Premium and my C6 Z06 for this one.

The last go-round for the CTS-V, the LS9 was changed when it was put in the Caddy, no forged pistons, smaller camshaft, etc, for the LS-A.

I'm sure it'll be a bit milder for the next Caddy, just for Vette bragging rights, if nothing else.
