Default XPEL Ultimate vs Suntek

Can anyone chime in on the differences between these two? I received a quote and was told I have a choice between the two (same price). I have seen everyone talking about XPEL on here, anyone here ever use Suntek?

Also, they offer window tint as well....any difference in going with a Formula One, Llumar, Johnson or Suntek brand?

I went back and forth between these two, and after having two local installers recommend the Suntek- I went with it. They said it had better "self healing" and was more forgiving from rock chips than XPEL. I'm having it installed on my hood, both front fenders, mirrors and front.

My Z was done in X-pel years ago, C6 Z, and my installer recommend Suntek. At that time, though, Suntek was reformulating their product due to some problem. I think the two products are very close, but my installer still recommends Suntek over X-pel ultimate. With that said, my X-pel ultimate is doing great.

I was close to getting Xpel, but decided to go with SunTek. Per my research, I noted that SunTek is smoother glossier film and less prone to stretch marks. Also, one of the most reputable local installer prefers SunTek. Xpel does a better job marketing their product. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but it is critical to have a good installer.

I went with Suntek too and I couldn't be happier. The installer said the material is easier to work with. I don't have experience with XPEL but people seem to be happy with it. I would go with Suntek but go with whichever your installer recommends.

My installer likes the Suntek for its smoother finish and better look--but prefers the Xpel if you are going to track the car since it is a little thicker and more resistant to rock chips. So, since my Z07 is going to see extensive track use we went Xpel with it--but I'm doing Suntek on the Lambo I just bought next week......

I decided to have Suntek paint protection film and window tint (CXP) installed. I have used xPel on several previous cars and was pleased with the protection.

When I visited several local high-end detail shops to check out their work and pricing, all of them recommended Suntek. Suntek film also seemed to have less "texture" (looks smoother) and more inherent gloss. Both films are self-healing and will protect the car.

Formula One Pinnacle is an excellent window tint choice also.

I emailed Suntek but haven't heard from them yet. Does anyone here know of a good installer in the SW Ohio area?

I spoke to one of the hot shot installers in South Florida today. He also prefers Suntek. He says it is clearer and he prefers to work with it. He said the warranty on the xpel was five years and the Suntek seven. I'm going with Suntek. All I need is the car.

Paul

XPEL Ultimate is 10- year warranty - just had it installed on my Laguna Blue

Also, had CQuartz application as found it to be better than Opti-coat - check following link

I have suntek and have been using it for about 4 years on 4 different cars. The last 2-3 years the product improved even more and looks like paint. Have my whole nose done on the C6Z and it is awesome. Had some marks on it from a HPDE event. Cleaned some of it with WD40 then actually buffed it with a white pad and light compound. It looks new. It may self heal but it also buffs beautifully!! Great stuff!

I went with SunTek as I too heard it was easier to work with and I did my own. I installed large format graphics for 15 years and thought I would give paint protection a try. I bought a precut kit for the front and hand cut the rest. It was unbelievably forgiving compared to vinyl but required a little different technique. After getting comfortable with it I was able to stretch it around the spoiler covering the top, edge, and the bottom with once piece, did I say it was forgiving?

My night race blue paint actually looks better through the SunTek film. This summer, after some bugs were left on for a week, I noticed the film seemed to be etched by the bug guts. Bugs always wash off much easier than on paint so I was a little shocked. A few days later I went to inspect closer and it was gone. It had self healed. Another time it happened, I poured hot water over it and most of it came out right away. The rest was gone again in a couple days. It is a very tough film.

I have never worked with Expel. I am sure it is a good product. The installer is the most important part. ESPECIALLY if he is not using a precut kit and is cutting on your car. No room for f-ups there.

I do occasionally use a spray polymer between washes or if it's just bugs and a little brake dust (if there is such a thing on a Z51) then only the spray polymer and a few microfiber towels instead of a wash. It helps keep the super slippery feel.

I am really impressed with the paint protection film. I envy the guy who can live with rock chips in the paint of his ride. I'm not one of them. Paint protection film is worth every penny in my book.

Thanks, I guess he wasn't talking about the Ultimate. Did you use the CQuartz on top of the Ultimate or just where you didn't use the Ultimate?
Thanks,
Paul

CQuartz over the entire car - when I rubbed my hand over the car it felt softer than a newborn baby's rear!

I did have the ceramic coating applied in top of the film and every painted surface. It acts as a sealant so you never need to wax.
