Rock chips on lower rear vents
Only 600 miles on the car and the front tires have already sent a barrage of debri towards the rear lower vents peppering them with chips. I know I'm not the only one. Just added the splash guards.
Does anyone know the black inserts part numbers and wether they can be replaced without removing the rear quarter panel?
Thanks
Ed

Ed would you mind taking a photo to show where this issue arises? I understand it is on the vertical part of the insert.

The GM splash guards will help a lot, so going forward you should see less impact. Have them on mine and no chips. 1k miles.

I have a complete set of the GM splash guards waiting on the car. I will take them with me for installation before the car leaves the lot. It will be a 200+ mile trip to get it home. Most likely will go back the next day for my Mobil 1 500 mile oil change.
Splash Guard Question: What exactly do you need to take with you to do the job and can it be done with the car parked on the lot/show room floor. Any tips to make the job easier and less likely to cause any damage?

That is really good news! You don't know how much your post has put my mind at rest.

I took Museum delivery of mine and then drove it 800 miles home. Museum did the PDI on the car, and they added the splash guards. That said, I think they use one screw/bolt at the bottom and then use the same metal push-in locks the stock pieces use on the sides. Pretty easy install, and I don't think you'll have to take off the wheels. They also match up will with the side skirts if your car has those.
I drove all sorts of roads home with it. Obviously they aren't going to prevent every possible sort of stone impact, but I drove over a lot of different surfaces for a long ways and don't have any chips. I'm sure over time I'll acquire some as the miles stack up. But I think these guards provide a noticeable mitigation of this risk. Should be factory equipment IMO.
Sorry OP - I don't know the the part numbers for the brake vent pieces.

Scraping the splitter.
GTSNRT10 warned me about this at PBIR last week. I think I'm going to either put a set of splash guards on before leaving the dealer or just tape up the vents until I get them clear bra'd.

Was a post on the forum approx. a month ago relating to the same issue. They stated there are 2 hex bolts holding the shroud on. One of the first things I am going to do to mine is Xpel them.

Will get a pic today. It's on the leading edge of the black inserts. I have felt the hex bolts. Just didn't know if ther was enough room to get to the bolts without disassembling fender. (you have to disconnect fender to remove upper rear vents)

OnPoint, do you have the "side skirts"? They appear that they would help to protect the side of the car too.
PS: I got my GM splash guards for $52 a set both front and rear were the same price and I found the good deal on this forum.

The part numbers are above in FirehawkTA post. My source was GMPartsDirect.com @ $52.50 per set plus shipping & handling. Click on their site to the right under "Parts".

As a temporary fix I applied black electrical tape to the vertical edge. You have to look hard to see it and it works. I may just replace the tape every month and call it good along with splash guards!

Yes, I've got level 2 aero in carbon flash. The guards match up well on fit with the side skirts.

Thank you, you answered the part that I was not sure about and that was pulling the splash guard itself off part.

The question was "does anyone know the part numbers to the lower rear inserts and wether or not I need to remove the rear fender to replace them?"

I was thinking you were talking about the Vents at the rear of the car. I would think that intake would be best served by Xpel film. Incidentally there is a touch up GM paint for that Vent. intake. Color I believe is called carbon flash. Unfortunately I have misplaced the code.
The GM code for carbon flash is WA501Q
