Any A8 invoices yet?
Has any of the A8s received an invoice??? Mine has been sitting at 4000 at the factory for the past 4 days and my dealer (Kerbeck) has yet to receive the invoice. It sounds like there may be a hold up. Could be the GGT??

Interesting, because I went to local track today-Palm Beach International Raceway, to discuss some things and somebody who claimed they were familar with the Z06 A8, which I am getting, told me they were having trouble with the transmission overheating and that they Gm was not deliveing the A8's yet on the Z06. I was not sure he knew what he was talking about but maybe there was something to his story. Anybody hear this ?

I was told the MPG was 1 too low to avoid gas guzzler tax and GM was fighting to keep the tax off.
Once that is resolved the A8 Z06 can be invoiced and released. But who knows if that is true.

When I received my Z51 from Kerbeck a few days ago (transported from NJ to TX), there was a Z06 A8 on the same truck being delivered to a guy in Houston.

That's surprising since it's not clear any of the A8s have received invoices. Did you see the sticker? Was there's GGT by chance?

The first run of Corvette Z06 with the A8 were built (completed)this past week...mine on Friday! They are still in Bowling Green waiting for movement. Not likely one in Houston, but may have had a special delivery setup?

My M7 vert was built on the 15th and the dealer recieved the invoice the next day (but the car has yet to arrive at the dealership). I believe the A8's began to complete the day after mine so it is definitely curious why invoices haven't been available yet.

There are rumors of a quality control hold in place that could be nothing more than a day to day thing. I can't get anyone to confirm this, but I'm told by a reliable source that these mini-holds (as opposed to the formal several weeks hold we saw on the very first C7s and Z06s) are not uncommon. The way it was explained to me, it sounded as much like a bureaucratic thing -- simply getting together the paper work from everyone who needs to sign off -- so that the car can be released and invoiced. I would expect this to happen early to mid week of this coming week at the latest.
The overheating mention above is clearly year old news that has nothing to do with this issue.
The GGT issue is interesting. There were reports recently that GM is challenging the tax on the Z06 so it's possible that could be an issue. However, not shipping and invoicing these cars allowing them to stack up will very quickly become more expensive than the tax itself so I would think unless GM expects an imminent decision, that's not likely the reason. GM doesn't actually pay the GGT until the MY production run is complete and they know how many cars they built and sold -- much like the way the income tax works on us. Of course, they want to make sure the GGT is invoiced to the end consumer, so a brief delay might make sense.
My 2 cents. Worth what you paid for it.

The same thing occurred when the Z06 M7 came out; there was no GGT determination right away. Some cars shipped, but couldn't be sold until they were invoiced and the window stickers were completed.

I assume there is an administrative appeal of the tax that would attack the numbers, i.e. they misstated the highway or city mileage. Other than challenging the underlying mileage assumptions, I agree with you, I can't see how they challenge the conclusions. It's just math.

Just a guess but perhaps GM made some changes to the electronics that control the A8 and they believe that will result in an EPA determined improvement in the mileage.
Obviously, the EPA has a set procedure for determining the mileage figures and so GM decided to play their game and make some changes to play the game better.
As a result GM has requested a redo of the A8.

If GM pays the tax at the end of the model year you would think they could charge it, and if it does get removed later they could just send out refunds to everyone that paid the tax.
I'm not holding my breath though, the Gvmnt loves getting those taxes and is not quick to change their mind.
