Plugged the card in my laptop from the pdr. I get playback,but no sound. Anyone know why?

Video from vallet mode recording would not have sound, but normal PDR recording should.

^ Exactly. When you record, just make sure you're not recording in valet mode. Check your settings.

I get sound in the car playback, just not on my laptop

Had the same issue just today. I have a Mac and tried iTunes, Quicktime and finally got it to work using iPhoto of all things. Not sure what system you have but if you have a Mac give this a try.

That usually indicates you have a missing CoDec or a CoDec that's inaccessible to the application you're playing the video with.

Hey amgman -

I'm actually curious about this one. Do you have a small(ish) version of one of your MPEGs you can post somewhere for me to download? I'd like to peer into it (I'm a bit of a video, audio, computer geek) on my Mac and see what's what.

My guess, having not seen one of the files yet, is that there's some metadata in the MPEG file which is tripping up a couple of those Apple tools, but iPhoto is just ignoring it.

Curious...
