Default Help....1 second lag from throttle to movement

As i mentioned in another post i took my car to the track for the first time this weekend and had an absolute blast! the car performed amazingly other than the lag in second gear between pressing the throttle and anything happening. it seemed like it was about a second, though i'm sure it was shorter. But, when i press the gas pedal i want it to go. I had it in track mode with traction control on. Do i need to turn traction control off? (i would prefer not to) or do i need to push the throttle more slowly? i was putting it on the floor coming out of the corners. i got to the point i was dropping to first out of the corner going into the straight away because it was taking so long to engage. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks all!

Just to clarify for others, your car is an A8, correct?

If you are running in second gear and see a lag when accelerating that's so long you have time to downshift, there is something wrong. Your description suggests there is no lag in first gear but there is one in second. I would take it to the dealer.

I may have figured it out. Though i selected Track Mode i did not adjust the Performance Traction Management. Looking at other PDR videos i see they are running in Race mode. I bet if i even went up to Perf Trac 3 it would eliminate this problem. It says in the owners manual that power is slightly reduced in PERF TRAC 1 and 2. So, since i did not make a selection, i bet the default is in this range. Race Mode it says "StabiliTrac is off and engine power is available for maximum cornering speed." i definitely did not have maximum corning speed. I will try this next time i go out.

Once you switch to Tr and then do the double tap on the center button, you select the mode you want (Wet/DRY/1/2/Race) then you do not touch the center button again. Some people think you tap the center button again as an 'ENTER' key. No such thing. As long as you do not touch that center button, you can use the rotary **** to switch performance settings, but touch the center button and it reverts to default Tr mode.

This sounds like the ESC making sure you don't spin out by pinning the throttle in 2nd coming out of a corner. Nothing wrong with the car.

with the PTM in ZR1's, with the nannies on (such as wet, dry, sport1, sport2,) if you "mash" the throttle after the apex it will definitely pull timing and there will be a noticeable "lag"in throttle input as the computer attempts to control wheelspin and maximize traction....maybe this is what you were experiencing?

Try with nannies off next time (or do it in an empty parking lot to see the difference)....did you also hear a high frequency metallic tapping sound until the throttle "caught up"....that is the engine managing torque when it detects wheelsman I believe

Yep, i'm certain this was the problem. I'll cycle through PERF TRAC 3, 4 and 5 next time i go to see which one best suits my driving. This was a very short track with a lot of turns. Lag was really only noticable on two spots of the track, the hard 90 heading into the straight and the other hard corner heading into a long sweeping turn. Both places were a rapid drop in speed followed by hard acceleration. The car was amazing though. There were a couple C5's (i think, never really been a corvette guy until the Z06 came out), both modified (exhaust anyways, maybe more, i don't know and didn't ask) and one was a Z06 that really did not like me passing them. They could keep up ok on the straight away (though i passed them both there) but i left them far behind on the rest of the track.

What happened to just driving our cars? Since when do I have to adjust a million damn things before I can go? FFS it's getting annoying. You have to sit in a parking lot and fiddle with 20 settings for a half hour before you can even set off.

Once my '16 gets built and delivered, I'm having Mike Furman show me how to set everything for touring. The car will never come out of that mode !

I agree. This happened to me in Track\Wet (default). When I moved it to Track\Sport1, issue resolved. I am not that brave to go past Sport 1 on the track.
