Default Lingenfelter 2.3L Supercharger Swap - Yes, Please

Suprised this hasn't been discussed yet. Pretty impressive gains from swapping the factory 1.7L supercharger with an Edelbrock 2.3L unit. If I buy a C7Z06, it will likely get an Edelbrock or Maggie upgrade.

Real nice gains! I wonder how much the swap is? also I wonder if they can give you a core on factory supercharger too offset some of the cost

The 2.3 SC'r is the way it should have come from the factory IMO...great results though with the bigger SC'r!!

What is the reason the factory didn't use it? Gas mileage?

They are running more boost albeit more boost on smaller units usually is limited by the added heat the increased PSI brings to the table.

I have been a vette fan for a long time. However, between the speed brake on the back deck and the heat/timing issues up front along with having to void the warranty to enjoy a normal HPDE, my vette emotions are depreciating.

yah few things on that set up since i dealt a lot with 2300s and ligenfelter wont tell the entire story which i think is wrong but i like telling full story

1) the car requires a tune to run that bower. that being said A stock z06 with a tune made what 635 rwhp/640tq?

2) that kit has 3 more psi then stock. a tvs 1700 with 3 more psi then stock and a tune with headers makes almost the same power as that car makes and you save 5000 dollars.

3) example http://www.torquenews.com/106/vengea...5-corvette-z06

INTAKE/TUNE/2 PSI MORE then stock 660/663. Doing headers will add another 20 rwhp/tq so looking at 680/683 about.

4) Headers $1500 intake $450 tune $600 pulley $125 total amount $3675
Edelbroke 2300 blower $7500 dollars

So is 2 rwhp/13 rwtq is goign to cost you almost $4000 dollars!!! yah not worth it

More costly and issue with pollution rules I would say.

Replacing it might cause issues with transmission chain from clutch to gearbox who have just been sized for the 650HP...

Good discussion points. But, no doubt that a 2.3L blower making the same power as a 1.7L blower - which one do you think will have less heat output? I know those Edelbrocks and late generation Magnuson blowers are OEM quality too, and put some focus on cooling. A bigger blower spinning at less rpm, usually means less heat from compression. No question that the 2.3L offers more long-term scalability. I watched a 2.3L ZR1 blower (RC's car) put down over 1,000 rwhp on blower alone - using a ported factory blower and E85. That will never happen with 1.7L, it is already spinning too high. Maybe spending a little more also buys some reliability here?

Also, not really wise to compare peak dyno figures from two different dynos. You could, however, compare net gains/losses between two dynos.

my buddy has a c7 z06 and his friend has a c7 regular with edelbrock 2300. the c7 edelbrock has a higher iat pass after a good street race which they both do. I will be installing a IW lower crank pulley on the z06 this week adding prob 2 psi boost and will see how iats act.

that being said. even if you keep stock pulley on the car it will make prob 15 hp less with headers and save you still over 5k. If i was going to spend 7k on a blower set up would be a procharger since will make wayyyy more power and your already voiding your warranty so F it.

that being said my car gets here in 2 weeks. Im going to be doing
E85 kit
INTAKE
HEADERS
should be in same power range as car above and ill have prob 3k in mods.

Its just how you want to spend the cash. For me I use my cars on the street a lot on weekends "mexico of course" so always looking for what works best.

I'm betting you could sell the factory LT4 supercharger kit for at least $3500-4000 cash, to a hotrodder that wants it on their musclecar. Maybe even more, since there aren't really any available used.

Just curious: why do you want to void your warranty and 'add' more power before even using the car for few Months to see if the 650HP that it offers will suffice?

To me it the same as people always adding salt to the food before even tasting it ;-)

Bolt-on LT4 with some blower porting gets 714whp at just 12psi and rippin 9s - Pretty dam good and you dont have to swap out the entire system.
