Default Z06 Order cancelled-A matter of principal

Well Guys/Gals, After waiting for over a year, On the verge of delivery of my Z06 A8 convert to Puente Hills Chevrolet in So Cal I got the shock of my life.I went to pay for my car on order since 9/15 I was told there would be a $10,000 premium added to the MSRP AFTER being assured there would be NO premium because I was like part of the family.I had dealt with the Sales Manager but he was overruled by the General Manager so after causing a minor disagreement the offer went to $5000.I couldn't live with myself if I let myself be treated in this fashion. So No Vette after the long wait.I have read every post both good and bad on this site.I hope you guys love your new cars as I have had to settle for my second choice. I purchased a 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider with 7K miles to make up for my loss.Cost 50K more, not as fast, lousy gas mileage, not as good on the track, no warranty BUT the dealer was true to his word and the key fob has a prancing horse.I am seething at my experience at Chevrolet.Wishing you guys best of luck and happy driving as I switch reluctantly the the Ferrari Chat.

Man sorry to hear that. Some dealers or these days most dealers have no customer service/values. You could of snagged one already built sitting on a lot somewhere. That's what I did when my local dealer wouldn't move on the 10g plus up. I had it serviced there just so they would see it.

What dealer was charging the "premium"?

Man that sucks. You should write a letter to GM explaining why a loyal customer purchased something other than a GM. When they had your money in hand. Make sure you slam that dealership at every opportunity.

Sorry to hear of the shabby treatment from the scumbag of a dealership. Good luck with your prancing horse!

Sorry to hear that and I would probably do the same if they reneged on their agreement. I have no problem people paying over sticker for a car but not when it was agreed it would be at sticker in the first place.

Nice second choice!!

I guess you didn't really have a purchase contract, otherwise I would have the dealer in court. Like everyone else, I am sorry that the dealer seems to have it stuck it too you.

WOW....

That really sucks, I went thru a similar experience when but my 14 C7

I was treated really bad and I finally found a couple of honest dealers in Southern Calif

Rydell Chevy , Northridge ask for greg riggen (bought my Z06)

Quality Chevy, Escondido (sells for msrp)

I got my revenge by writing Chevrolet and by posting the story and review to "Yelp" with the names of the shady sale people and gm's

The dealers entire sales staff are bonus'd by there customer service rating.....bad rating = no bonus for parts, service and sales

What a douche...

I too cancelled my A8 order, but for different reasons - I too may jump brand, but keeping the C6Z

PS, sorry to hear about your crappy sales/buyins experience, and good luck with the Ferrari...it should be a blast to drive. Find a good and trusted INDY shop for maint and so on and enjoy her.

Thanks,
Carlos

My local dealer quoted me $25k over MSRP. I've been a loyal customer for 15 years and spend six figures at the dealership. I haven't been back since.

Here are some of Puente hills chevy's recent reviews on yelp

I would never buy there......this is 3 of the last 5 reviews

1.0 star rating 2/8/2015
Thank you guys for lying to me to lure me into the dealership and waste my time. Horrible dealer and will never come back.

1.0 star rating 11/25/2014
I WILL NO LONGER BE A CUSTOMER OF GM AND ITS AFFILIATE BRANDS.

1.0 star rating 10/4/2014
If I could have not given any stars I would've. The service sucks. There's no point in making an appointment to service your car because according to one of the service guys, you still have to wait in a long *** line when people who don't make an appointment have their **** finished before you.

Not only that, there are only 2 people working in the service department, yes TWO service people ... on a Saturday, the busiest day because working people only have this day off to bring in our cars. And who closes at 2pm on a Saturday?!

The service guy I talked to was rude, snarky and looked busy but really wasn't.

Probably one of the dumbest reactions to not getting what you want that I have ever heard. Didn't want to pay $5K over for a car that you did want, so you pay $50K extra for a car that you didn't want?

WTF.

Sure the dealer lied. That's what they do. But there are other Corvettes out there. Impulse buying is a fool's errand.

Sucks to hear but money talks. Im sure someone has lined up willing to pay a premium for that car even though you ordered it.

Settling for an F430

Not as fast.. yeah below 85 degrees maybe Imo the c7z is a pile of plastic with bolt on parts that doesnt perform up to expectations. The F430 is a work of art with a glorious soundtrack that the farm tractor ohv just cant compare to. Hope you enjoy your F430 I know I would !!

It's exactly what I would have done, with one exception. If my dealer does this to me, I will walk and buy a Lamborghini. You don't get that 5k back on resale, hell you don't get "anything" for that 5k. Why not drive around in a Ferrari for a few years, then buy a 2017 Z06 for under msrp at a different dealer.

You can buy a Z06 at MSRP this year if you do your homework.

If the money is burning a hole through your pocket sure, go buy another over priced consolation prize.

Beautiful cars! Too rich for me. The maintenance costs alone would chase me off. I see where fellow, former 427 owner Tally Ho, speaks of needing a $3500 part, associated with a coolant leak (yikes) Then add labor.

Still, they're great cars if you can afford them.

Congrats on the prancing horse!

You know this is a branding issue I see within GM and their franchising. The customer that walks in to buy that cobalt is totally different than the one that buys the Z06. Unfortunately the level of customer service at your average dealer is that of the cobalt buyer.

I have lots of friends in several different aspects of the car business. If a sales or general manager were pulling crap like this at BMW or Porsche dealer, corporate would pull their franchise.

Someone should compile a list of dealerships to avoid, and save someone else the headache.

If your a forum member you should be buying from a forum dealer.

Good for you... but I am still AMAZED that people are so on the MSRP bandwagon..
Like it's great for a dealer to make a cool 6-7 grand+kickbacks off of one person and
one sale?

It's just nice to see some dealers are pricing some z06s under sticker.. Ready for
this to become more mainstream...
