A less than impressive 1st shakedown pass 11.98@122.67 then things got worse!
It's hard to believe but after 2500+ miles I finally had my VERY first opportunity to actually run the car at WOT through ALL four gears and I had to go to the track to do this due to Winter wet weather, crowded streets & highways when it was dry out, etc. Every time I'd find a nice break in traffic with dry pavement to go WOT it seems that all the car would ever do is spin the tires
My Z06 is Stage II with Center Wicker Bill installed. Yesterday was actually the first time that I have ever drag raced a Corvette....I never did take my 2011 Z06 to the track, just used it for my DD.
Since our local track in Kent, WA had it's opening day I was really expecting very poor traction......this really wasn't the case on the first pass 11.98 @ 122.67 MPH (2.37 60') where I just casually launched the car ~2500 RPM to get a feel for traction and rowed it through the gears to get a good feel for the M7 shifter (which I think sucks compared to the T6060 or T56). After this pass I thought...cool, I'm actually going to get decent traction today and have some fun....WRONG!
The 2nd pass got real scary when I decided to take things up a notch by trying for a better 60' coming out about 3K RPM slipping the clutch and the wheel spin was terrible to the point where I had to let off and feather the throttle before I could squeeze it again and then when I felt it halfway hook on the top end of 1st gear I slammed 2nd gear and just about lost the car......it's funny how the video of how the car going sideways and your perception of what is really happening just aren't quite the same! I should of just followed my instincts and knew that traction wasn't going to be good just based on the launch where I sensed that the tires just didn't want to bite even though I did the same burnouts that I did on the first pass where traction was decent. I actually had to let off the throttle multiple times and I only made it through 3 gears into the traps.....I never did shift to 4th, I believe that it was about 65/6600 RPM when I let off (just before the fuel cut-off). This pass was a shameful 13.12 @ 121.25 MPH (2.42 60') pass, however it was interesting to note that the back half MPH went from 90.46 @ 1/8 mile to 121.25 @ 1/4 mile for a delta of ~31 MPH. The car certainly felt stronger on this pass when it finally did get traction which really makes me wonder if the car was just carbon'd up on the first pass since this is my DD and I really haven't had much of a chance to really have gotten on the car since the initial dyno runs.
The 3rd pass was disgusting with a 3.2 60' and the car never did hook.....you can see by the video that I could still spin the tires in 3rd gear just before the MPH traps I'm really baffled by how these tires just went from not so bad on the first pass to beyond horrible on the next passes with the same amount of burnouts (which wasn't much!). I ran the tires ~25 PSI for all 3 runs.
And of course, I never have used the PDR before so I just assumed that it would record all of the data for the runs....it wasn't until after viewing that I realized that you have to select the track parameters to overlay...sorry, still trying to sort things out with all of these high-tech electronics! Here are the PDR video's below:

If it was the first day at Pacific this year, was the track slicker than it normally would be? Considering all the wheel spin, the car's pulling hard once traction is established with good final trap speeds (despite the first half as you pointed out).

Any spinning won't net a good ET, I think the traps were fairly good considering all the time off or at part throttle.

I wouldn't be too concerned, yet. The only time I took my C5 down the quarter mile, it was triple digits air temperature and the VHT applied to the starting line area was liquefied and I couldn't get off the line at idle without spinning tires. Let's just say my ET's were nothing to write home about.

If I could tell anyone what I have learned about drag racing is Seat Time , Pic your track and Days. It made more difference in my Z06 and Zr1"s than all my Drag cars and Bikes and my bikes run 8"s at 160mph

It's all driver error. The first time I ran my WS6 down the track, I ran nearly 14 seconds at about 107 or so. I was so disappointed. I thought the car was a dud even though it had been a beast on the street. Later I found the car had another 1 sec plus to knock off. I can't wait to run the Z. With all the snow. I have 26 miles on the clock.

This probably because bad track/prep. This happens. Funny but not for you is..... You have the correct idea for a stick car.. Slipping the clutch. Many people don't/can't understand this. No need at all for a dump of the clutch. Once you know your car you will be able to be a part of it. This does take time. If you screw up the launch. .. Drive that's it. Next time. It's all over. That pass is wasted. Have fun for sure but listen to others that know how to launch any stick car. Auto cars are easier but not anywhere in life as driving a stick

First, I'll apologize up front for LMAO when I saw what was beating you out of the hole on the first video.
OK, with that under control. It does seem strange that the first run should be the best other than that first run showed the most throttle control of the 3 runs.
Tires should get warmer each run and the track should get better with each run of the day. Later in the day should mean more heat, unless the runs started at peak heat and the sun began setting and things cooled off with each later run.
So I'd have to agree that throttle control was better in the first run and practice makes perfect.

in a case like this a stop sign start would have been faster. about 1200 rpm and easy on the gas. less is more on a slick track
It's all driver error.
I would have tried the right lane...
What was the temp?
cup 2's?

Actually I was shocked at the grip on the first pass...not what I expected! I expected traction like the 3rd pass on the first pass because I would expect the car to get better traction as the day wore on but that didn't happen....oh well, DR time!
I agree 100%, however, I got deceived on the first launch and thought that I could get away with more!
Like driver error is going to spin the tires in between shifts in 3rd gear past the 1000' mark on the 3rd run....get real
Everyone I talked to said that the left lane was the stickiest (I showed up mid-day so I took their word for it!).
mid to upper 50's
Heavens no, Pilot SS's
Exactly! Prior to dropping the LS7 into my Monte SS I was able to rip a 1.69 60' times on bald 275/40ZRx17's with a 440 RWHP LS6 so I know how to do this!

I've raced my TA/FC there several times and even with track prep it can be an interesting place to race. In 2011 I was tuning for the car that won the division event and the only way we got down the left lane was to dump 12 degrees of timing out of it for the first 2.5 seconds. It only ran 5.70's at 254 miles per hour while everyone else was struggling to get traction.

Try not doing so much of a burnout, you may be overheating the tires. Go back to the 2500 launch or maybe 2300.
