Dealer called and said GM told him my 6/8 TPW 2016 can't be produced unless I change the color, so the order is going back on the shelf.

GM Caught by surprise
i think they have to go down to the Buick plant and get some. You can't expect that they would offer a "new" color and have it ready did you?

it wouldn't surprise me if LB read won't be available until all the Crystal red tintcoat 2015 cars are built.
I can't see them having two lines, one running a color to be discontinued and another running its replacement, if their paint lines run like I suspect they do.

Got the same call. Apparently Long Beach Red and Racing Yellow are both bad paint batches with horrible orange peeling etc, etc. They said the earliest orders in those two colors can be placed would be end of August...
Prob gonna change color if it means getting car in first allocation.

I really doubt the paint is defective. Both of these colors were on 0% allocation with the very first constraint report. Normally plants start a new model year with as little interruption as possible. I would expect they will bring in the two new colors within a few weeks of start of production. I have Racing Yellow on order and will wait.

That would be my thought also.
Orange peel is a result of improper application, or lack of finish work.
The companies that make this paint (I used to sell paint manufacturing equipment to the paint industry), generally know what they are doing.
To have two new colors have *problems* simultaneously, doesn't pass the probability test.
I think they simply will wait until the 2015 red and yellow is done being sprayed and set up those lines to do the new colors.
That $470 million paint plant upgrade is also a reasonable figure, based on what a former GM exec told me. They probably have a dedicated paint line for each color, is my guess.
When is the last 2015 supposed to be produced?
Asa side note, I do feel a bit better about having a car that isn't in the first few weeks of production, even if there isn't much change from the previous year. The unexpected delay disappointment is tangible, though.

The latest constraint report is here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tion-week.html The report shows the new colors constraint is expected to last less than 4 weeks.
