So how much faster is the new Z than the C6 ZR1?
I can tell you this 100%, at the 1/2 mile event here in GA last weekend there was a brand new 991 Turbo 4S running a consistent 161-163mph. Any guess on the stock ZR1 times? Anywhere from 148-151mph.
That sir is getting your *** drug!
FWIW the Porsche owner said he has a 800+rwhp Vette in the garage that doesn't get any attention anymore.

Safety Car
Simple question. Any Porsche model except spyder. Am I missing anything? Aside from name of the Porsche vs the Chevy, it seems like Z06 will destroy every Porsche model out there, including turbo S in every department. Maybe not so much in interior, but who buys these cars for the soft leather.
anybody who has tracked any car knows this well... in the end the driver is really what makes the difference, so might as well buy what you enjoy over what it is on paper...

A few tenths where? You have performance comparison numbers on the new Z?
So how much faster is the new Z than the C6 ZR1?
I can tell you this 100%, at the 1/2 mile event here in GA last weekend there was a brand new 991 Turbo 4S running a consistent 165-168mph. Any guess on the stock ZR1 times? Anywhere from 148-151mph.

New all wheel drive PDK Turbo S will do 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds, unfortuntly the Z will be to busy trashing the concrete with its 335/30/20 tires & 650LBS TQ.

Maybe on lap times at a track lol. This was a half mile event with over 10 different ZR1s stock running all within 3mph. Ones not going to all the sudden go 15mph faster with any racer you could put in the car lol.
From a dig through the 1/2 mile a Porsche Turbo 4S will DESTROY a new Z06. That I can promise you.

And then there is the cost to own view vs the cost to buy approach.
I would say a low mileage, 2 year old GT3 under warranty would be cheaper to own over a 3 year window than buying a new C7Z today given the GT3's low rate of depreciation.
Seems that many folks transition from a #'s only view to a how does it feel getting to the #'s appreciation.
It's a great time to pick and choose.

So the AWD/dual clutch Porsche is faster in a straight line...ok...with those characteristics, it should be. Lets see how they compare around a track (which says a lot more).
I remember when vettes used to be criticized for only being fast in a straight line...how times have changed...
Around a track, my money is on the ZO7 vs the Turbo 4S. Should be interesting.

Scraping the splitter.
Bingo.
People buy cars for lots of different reasons, whether it's absolute performance capabilities (regardless of whether or not they can extract them), aesthetics, features and content or any combination thereof. Others may buy based on how the car makes them feel when they drive it or vehicle dynamics. Chiding somebody for choosing any of these reasons to make their purchasing decision is just stupid.

Potato - Patato. Both the C7 and current generation P cars are fine automobiles. Both are premium priced, performed oriented specialty cars. It's like choosing Rolex or Omega - Maui or Saint Moritz - Gold or Titanium. People not only have different tastes, but their tastes also change over time.
Neither car is the be all, end all - both are viable, street and track capable, upscale offerings. If you are blessed to obtain either or both, be grateful.

The bone stock C6 ZR1's best pass was 10.66 and 133+mph (others have gone 10.7s as well so it is capable of repeating it).
That IS stock Porsche Turbo S 'territory' in case anyone was keeping score.
Yes, a rear mounted engine/AWD will offer some acceleration advantages on the street for average drivers over a powerful RWD car, but trapping over 130+mph is no joke no matter how ya slice it.
