I have installed a dewitts radiator and 180- thermostat for about a month now in florida heat I run at a185 at 60 mph and in traffic at 95 degrees it never hits 200,i have been waiting to track it in cooler weather, has anyone tracked a m7 zo6 with the dewitts yet in high temps and how was the temps?

If it does like the dewitts did for my C4, then it'll be just fine on track days. (versus overheating like a POS, like the stocker did)

Dewitts should be who GM gets their corvette radiators from to start with. Superior quality, vastly better cooling, factory fit.

Default dewitt radiator

Keep us informed on track temps and any issues, any warranty issues with the Dewitt?

I have installed dewitts radiator on my C4 three months ago and he work fine and very good quality. More water capacity and low temp also run at high rpm. I think no better radiator on the market.

Did you have to make any small mods to make it drop into the space? One person said they had to do some minor adjustments. Who did you buy your 180 stat from?
How much time did it take?

I've done Dewitt's on a couple of other vetts and the work great.

Thanks for sharing your info. Our temps in my town are currently 95 degrees and temps are 200 to 206 running driving as a grandpa.

I am sure Unions and Suppliers wouldn't like that one bit. But I agree with you. They should go with what works.

It bolted right in no mods there was a post from someone else about breaking the tabs on the a/c condenser Do not do that if you push in on the top tab the a/c condenser slides upward it is a plastic clip,it took about 2 hours with the coolant fill and warm up it is a direct fit.i got the thermostat from lingenfelter 180 is perfect it runs at 182 to 185 with airflow and keeps the computer from pulling timing at 194,also no codes from being to cold like the 160 therm in cold weather,i have a halltech intake and ported throttle body also the car has been dynod twice 627rwhp 640rwtq best runs hot runs 613/618

Thanks for the info. I bet tuning to have the fans come on sooner would also help.

the temps do come down fast when the fans are on so that would help,i am trying my hardest to not tune the motor for warranty purposes, this way I can keep all the power the car has without the computer pulling timing and killing power, when the motor is heat soaked the dyno runs where around 585 rwhp,i also have the fasterproms intercooler tank on the car.

So, it's losing~40whp @ full heat-soak, then?

Great post--wonder how the rad would help things @ the track...

At one time Team Corvette had Dewitts stickers somewhere on the race car. Can't remember if C6R or C7R. Maybe someone here can verify?

Marc,
Thanks for the info.
I'm so glad you posted your results. Your results are what I expected and I am very much in the same boat by not wanting to break into the computer. Thanks again.

I broke the tabs on my "old" factory radiator to get it out, not the tabs on the condenser. The Dewitt's radiator does just slide in and does have heavy duty steel tabs for the condenser, so I didn't care about the old factory radiator.

I overheated in 90' temps at the track. I haven't had the time to review it or track it yet with new radiator in. I also posted in the tech section how to do the install.

We were the supplier to Pratt Miller (GM corvette racing) for all C6 model track cars. During this period they did not have one radiator failure, including several 24 hr Lemans races. They switched to a custom micro ported heat exchanger that is used in Indy cars a couple years ago.

the plastic piece you broke on the radiator had a latching plastic you just had to push in and lift and the condenser it would slip out I just don't want any one else breaking there radiator you do not have to do that.

Tom
Your rads are boffo! I put one in my 1966 427 restoration. No cooling issues ever.

Curious to compare the cooling capacity of the rad you supplied to the C6R program for the normally aspirated 336 cu. in. 491HP normally aspirated engine vs the 376 cu. in. 650 HP forced induction in the new Z.

Also curious about specs of your current offering vs stock.......

Hey Tom, thanks for the info. A couple of questions:

Do you have any test results from actual Z's under race conditions of some kind?

And are the radiators the same for the M7 and A8?

TIA,
Nick
