Default Do I have a defect or do I have metallic in my Torch Red?

No photo, sorry, hard to take one. But at a very shallow sun angle, like after suppertime, I can see a "haze" of silvery speckles in my paint. I could only see it on the hood, but it was also the only panel I could get the sun at the right angle.

I didn't think Torch Red had any metallic. If it doesn't, it looks like I have silver overspray, but under the clear. It's also not even and it's quite blotchy.

Does anyone know?

Are you sure its not tree sap specs or some kind of contaminate on the surface?

Yes, as I had some hard-water spotting from a sprinkler I was working on. I had clay bar'd the surface and then buffed it, so the surface was as clean as it could get.

I'm not sure how skilled you are at buffing, but that could be the cause. As far as I understand, GM has different paint lines for each color, so overspray would be very unlikely.

I've seen some very strange things happen as a result of buffing, and usually a really good detailer can get all of it cleared up.

I had a 2014 C7 torch red and now a new Z06 torch red and never saw any metallic in either of them. Something not rite with your paint.

Another possibility is that your hood couldve been damaged and was repaired before you picked it up? Get a paint depth gauge and see if the numbers match the rest of the car.

All my other cars are black and on the best you can read the ceiling's bulb wattage in the reflection, so I'm confident I know what I'm doing. Besides, I used random orbital on this one since it was just was, no cleaner.

Default Had the same problem

Mine was in two different places, you only can see them under the sun looking at an angle. Same color Torch Red on a 2015 Z06. Took it to my dealer, they buff it out, took them less that 15 minutes to take them out. Good luck.
