Default Removing the front spats (Z06)

Hey guys., I'm having my front spats painted and was wondering what was needed to remove and install?

Did you need to remove the wheel and fendor lining ?

If someone could point me to install instructions that would be awesome.

Thanks

You don't have to remove the wheels or fender linings. There are screws on either end of the spat that have to be removed, I think two on the front and tow on the back of each spat. Then there is double stick tape at about midway or at the top, a total of about 10 inches, that you can pry off the fender. I used a screw driver and applied constant pressure until the tape gave up. Then clean off the tape on both sides. When I got them off, I sanded them smooth with 150 grit and then 220 grit paper. Then primed them with plastic primer and painted them with the carbon flash black paint. I did the mud flaps too. Then wrapped them with Suntek film. Not a big deal at all.

Paul, thanks for the quick response.. My body shop is tackling (and I'm sure this is their first C7).

I'll let them know.
Much appreciated.

They said., they need to pull the fendor lining because they don't want to risk breaking the spat or damaging the fendor.. .

Screws are everywhere from the front splitter, etc. argh. .

It's prob not good that I'm just standing over the guy watching (for him or me)

lol

I didn't have a problems and I'm a shade tree mechanic. Don't think you could break the spat if you tried, tough stuff. The screws are very visible as holding the spat on. Maybe when they get the first one off they will see how they are held on. Good luck.

Yea, that's exactly what happened.. Once they pulled the first one off - it was smooth sailing. .
They got them off and are prepping, painting, etc. . It'll be ready for install a Monday morning.

Thanks again for your help

Carefully heat the underside of the spat with a hair dryer. Helps soften the tape
