You hear plenty about Mustangs drifting, and Lexi drifting, and Hoonicorns drifting, but you don't frequently hear a story about a Corvette doing the smoky sideways dance.

Much like when you played Nintendo, you have to have the secret codes to unlock drift mode (aka Track mode Race submode). Place the car in Track mode, then press the traction control button down twice within say 3 seconds, use the toggle to the right to RACE. Enjoy. Drifting the car would be much easier if it had a traditional e-brake, but with the massive HP of the Z06, you can kick out really easy.

Tanner Foust did a fine job of drifting the C7 Stingray during the American version of Top Gear in the demo of laps done with and without Stability/traction control by an experienced driver. He did beat his time with all of the nannies off, but it was very very close...

I wondered about this. I haven't been brave enough to try it in my Z yet and was just going to ask about it at Spring Mountain next month when I am there for the Z06 school.

If you're using either a Z or a base, I'd have lotsa real estate around me with no obstructions. Really. Because there aren't a lotta Tanner Fouts.

Do not use Race Mode to drift. Turn the nannies completely off. The car will just stutter and fight you if you leave PTM turned on.

Correct! Race mode still has TC engaged just more lenient than the other modes. You need everything off to do a good drift.

Nope. Have to put PTM in "Race" mode.

I'm not even old as some but I see drifting as a seriously retarded
stunt.
You would have to be nuts to drift your Z06. But I don't see where it is cool!
Question is why?

PLEASE stop giving false information. You even posted a link where the GM engineer stated TC was still on in race mode. You want a full drift, then you do a lot more than putting in race mode. You need EVERYTHING OFF.

I will post my vids on the skid pad showing race, all off, sport one, and wet. I did this to learn each setting (note sport 2 and race have TC on so I chose race for analysis)

Another form of car control is why. I don't drift but it's a discipline I respect. It allows you to learn the abilities of the car and how it handles. I road race and I learned how it handles in my own discipline however drifting I feel can help me in rotating the car more and learning slip angle more. So people who say they drift I say good for you

Question can be asked another way... Why drag race this car?

Wow...I just returned from Spring Mountain and this is the information they taught us. The instructors said you can drift it PTM Race mode. May be even easier when set up as you suggest, but according to what we were taught, drifting is possible. Not false information unless the instructors were incorrect.

The other point I was making is that hitting the button twice doesn't turn everything "off".

I'm not trying to be rude and I am sorry if it came off that way.
I think we may be confusing drifting with sliding the rear end. I have been with Bondurant and I can assure you that you are not fully drifting a car in race mode. Again , I will post on the skid pad to show the differences .

I will preface this question with, I will probably NEVER shut them off. I went Ron Fellows in my Stingray and have some time on road courses and other instruction, I know while I can lap faster than many, the car is smarter than me, period.

But HOW do you turn everything off?

Thanks in advance...

Single push on traction control button turns everything off.

not true, single push is only straight line traction. Single push and hold will also turn on yaw control. That's the one you need off to slide around.

Also here a good video of the c7 drifting around. Pretty much the same platform so you can.

One of the exercises at Spring Mountain on a wet figure 8 course they will turn off all the nannies and you can put the car sideways and drift it.
