You may call me a fan boy, but bought the car, tracked it last weekend and definitely still love it! Kansas Speedway NASA event. Temps were mid 80's so not really hot but absolutely no issues. Torqued the lug nuts, added recommended Mobil 1, 2 degrees track suspension setting and drove the crap out of it. Car absolutely ate everything in sight (Nissan GTR's, GT3 Porsche, and a bunch of others). Easy 160 MPH on front straight. Perhaps I am the lucky guy with "one of the good ones". I instruct for NASA, so am fairly aggressive driver. Doubt I will ever want to drive it in 100 plus degree weather since that's not the kind of day I want to be out roasting my butt at any track. Another event in a couple of weeks at MAM and I will be there too. I see a lot of street cars that come to the track and many of them exhibit overheat issues. It's a lot to ask of any street car when you are flogging it. At least for me, this car offers more than enough performance to dominate any HPDE situation. My shift points were generally 500-600 RPM under redline since the Z06 is so much more powerful than anything you will encounter. That may have helped. Passing is so effortless I just did not see the benefit in hitting redline. Just my observations.

I read it to... WTF... DNF and an GM engineer said it was the gas... these cars, and the 26 computers they have! I think they needed a more competent engineer... at the test!

If what you say is true, hopefully this is the final spark Chevrolet needs to get off their asses, and admit they are working on a solution. Once or twice is a fluke, but several articles in mainstream media saying your flagship sports car has an Achilles heal is something that needs to be fixed.

Melting Slicks
I started a question about it in the Ask Tadge section. Go vote and hopefully Tadge will tell us what happened instead of a BS excuse by the guys who can't do their job right. It sucks because I was looking forward to seeing the car place higher than DNF and wanted to see what it would run @ LS.

It's disappointing that they are unable to give a high profile magazine a car that is right. However, at the end of the day, all the magazine articles do is make it easier to brag about the car to others. My car runs perfectly, no complaints, no issues. I fixed where GM has caused most of these problems with some relatively simple mods and tuning. Rather than say "see, even Motor Trend agrees with me", I just say, Lets race!

Burning Brakes
Not only did the car not run right, they gave them a Z06 with shot brakes. What the hell! Why would you do that? I really like the new Z06 and have thought about buying one next spring, but not with all the problems that are popping up. Funny how the ZR1 had none of these issues when it debuted. GM really seems to not care about the quality of the cars going out. When you spend close to $100k you should get a car that can at least do what it was designed to do.

Whats funny is that many of you haven't considered that the press cars are not performing well.... imagine what your our off the line cars are actually performing like compared to what they should be?

Even with the flaws we continue to buy the cars so I'm pretty sure there will be nothing done. Unfortunately it's how business is run these days, one of the best products on the market functioning at 89% is still better than most that function 99%
