Default Viper to Z06

Well I'm new here, never owned a corvette before but I thought it was time to try one out. Traded in my 2014 SRT Viper for a 2016 Z06 3LZ A8. Shark Gray / Jet Black. Just got it less than 24 hours ago and I am really liking it a lot ! I think I got a pretty sweet deal considering the msrp was 95k with the addition of the competition seats. I paid 89,700. Had a friend that does a lot of business with that dealership hook me up. Here a few pics for now and I will enjoy using the "search" feature to answer a lot of questions I am sure I will have. Here is a few pics for now.

Nice car!

Word of advice: Don't use the built-in "search", it is awful. Use Google to search the forum:

[Google search] site:corvetteforum.com searchwords (to search entire forum)

or

[Google search] site:corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-z06-discussion/ searchwords (to search just on C7 Z06)

or

[Google search] site:corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-corvette-141/ searchwords (to search all the C7 forums)

Welcome to the club! I hope you really like this car. I look forward to hearing your feedback. I strongly considered a viper, but decided upon the Vette.

Great looking Viper. I don't see them in white very often; looks good.

Congrats on the new Z.

Nice! What made you decide to switch to the Z06? The Viper is an incredible machine in its own right.

Great color choice too. Congratulations!

Your new Z06 looks very nice. I just got one also and am still trying to figure it all out. Unlike you I was driving an upgraded Mustang GT500 making 750 hp. I always wondered how the Viper was.

You traded in a fairly new Viper(what was the mileage?). Just curious, what was the primary reason that triggered you to “try one out” was it looks, performance or just because? In other words, when you walked in your garage one day an looked at your Viper you said…?

Congrats on the new Z06 .

Thanks everyone. I put 100 miles or her so far and am really enjoying the A8.

Thanks! That white really looked good and was easy to keep clean.

I have a quite a few Vipers in my past. a couple 2004s, a 2005, a 2006, and the latest the 2014. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Viper, its an awesome car. Fast "raw" loud HP. Fun to drive as well. I think I just wanted a change. I have zero bad things to say about the viper.

Well Congrats to you as well. Thats funny, I just got rid of a 2012 built motor mustang with a Vortech. Ran on E85 and put down 800hp to the wheels. Ran 9.6 @ 141 in the quarter mile with a converter and stock suspension. Ripped a 1.37 60ft time as well. Had that 3 and a 1/2 years and was time to move on from that as well. I DD the mustang too. Just bought a new Charger 392 cause I wasn't gonna pay ADM on the Hellcat. Plus I can throw the wife and kids in the Charger and go anywhere, not the case with the mustang. I have an order in on a 2016 Hellcat @ msrp. But it will be about 8-10 months before I get that. Always loved the GT500 but never owned one.

Congrats on the new Z06 .
Yeah, I bought the viper a year and a month ago. Put 5,800 miles on her and thats it. The purchase on the Z06 was kinda spur of the moment decision. lol The viper was loud on the highway (that V10 screams), creaked and rode stiff, but thats how it should, but I think I just wanted a change and loved the new Z06. Shark gray was a big factor too. As well as the new A8. Plus they gave me a really good price on the Viper and discounted the Z06 alot. Also the wife drove the viper here and there, but I think we will get more use out of the Z06. Take the top off, cruise the beach, hit the track ect. I'm 43, and have been through a lot of cars and I am sure its not my last Viper. But for now, I think this Z06 rocks. Freshly waxed...

I love the Viper as well. I had an '08 and it was a monster.

But, you are dead on as far as living with one day to day. The C7 is so much more comfortable and easier to live with. And while it is just my opinion, I think the C7Z looks a LOT better from any angle than a Viper of any Generation.

Thanks for the insights and again, congratulations - your C7Z is gorgeous.

I didn't come from a viper, but I think this is a very good point. The C7 Z06 is the first corvette that appealed to me for a lot of these reasons.

I've been on the fence about the Gen V Viper vs a C7Z next spring but only due to the motor issues. But, I am most likely still going with the C7Z.

I think overall, the C7Z is a far better looking car with plenty of performance for what I want to do with it. If you look at the pics from the OP showing his Viper and the C7Z, the Viper looks like it is 20 years old styling-wise.

The C7Z is breathtaking from any angle. The Viper doesn't do that for me.

The GT500 is a 2011. I couldn't resist the Ford Racing Performance Parts Whipple supercharger upgrade which raised the hp from 550 to 750 but still not as fast as your Mustang. BTW a friend of mine who currently owns a Challenger tried to order a Hellcat but said places wanted $20,000 over MSRP but he found a Chrysler place selling special cars which much more horsepower. I tried to locate the site for you but had no luck. But if you are interested I can contact my friend and ask him about it. The prices start at about $100,000, too rich for my blood. I think they have both the Challenger and Chargers listed.

Yeah the Viper looks very dated and not near as impressive looking as the Z. Still looks great in white... but gotta love that grey!!! Just needs to be lowered a bit next
