'15 or a '16?
So, I am considering trying to pick up a C7Z this fall rather than wait until next spring given that some dealers may be more inclined to move one rather than have it sit on their showroom all winter.
It does not seem that much changed between the '15 vs the '16 and I am fairly sure I might get a better deal on a leftover '15.
Any suggestions? (And for the search ***** - yes, I did a couple of searches but could not find anything specific to this question.)
Your positive, constructive feedback will be appreciated so let's not turn this into another 'You should buy THIS car instead' or 'C7Zs overheat thread' - I know what I want.

1). The 15 has 100k warranty as opposed to 60k for the 16. If you dont drive more then 60k in 5 years ... mute point.
2). The 16 has front camera if that tickles your fancy?
3). Having the newer model year for the trade/sell value tomorrow.
other than that, some carbon fiber hood option, interior stitching option etc.

The other cosmetic stuff doesn't sway me one way or another but the newer model year does have some value come resale/trade-in time probably?

Very helpful. The two dealers I've talked to failed to mention the warranty but then again, I doubt if I would put even close to 60K on the car in 5 years, especially given I trade about every year or so.

The new model also will generally cost more thus off setting any gain during trade/resale.
I would buy a cream puff used one and save the dough.

I'm definitely not ruling out a good used one.

The MSRP is higher but they are discounting the 2016 more. Most large dealers are offering discounts now that were not available on the 15's due to the demand.

They way I would look at it personally and it most of the time comes down to money you want/can spend so I see it this way:
2015 if money is an issue, You want to spend less probably find something in 70k range (base) if you take time and someone else probably has taken decent depreciation. Probably features are not as important either and I do like like 100k powertrain coverage too.
2016 if money is not an issue and you like extra features, gadgets, then this is the route I would go.
Bottom line, it Comes down to money and what you want out of it when it comes to features.
Good luck

I would buy 1 with few thousand miles from someone selling.

wow- some of the advise here is unreal. Yes the '16 msrp is more but the '15 by the book is considered a year old. Now if you're getting the '15 at $6-$10k under invoice (not msrp!) then go for it. For anyone buying a '15 at a number even near msrp, you are just .......well no name calling.
.........and don't jump on me saying " the dealer offered me the same value" or blah blah blah crap on trade-in. Ask them for the real trade value and get a reality check in the auto business.

You're right, doesn't matter until you need to unload it for whatever reason and the reality check comes into play. See it all the time including this car, everyone jumps on the bandwagon, dropping deposits, overpaying, car arrives with such excitement and 'congrats' posts all over the place - Weeks or months later, look at the classified section ' Must sell due to .........'

Are there even any leftover 15s out there? Given that you trade up every year.. Look for the best deal on a 15 if you can find and if slightly used and you can get a decent chunk behind the new car's invoice price then it's a no brainer.

I have a '16 Z06 convertible and am very fond of both the front cameras and the trunk latch power cinch. The front cameras are so accurate that I almost wouldn't be afraid of busting a Stage 2/3 splitter if I had one. I can close the trunk without fingerprints or cracking the lid by hooking a finger through the latch loop and pulling it nearly closed, and then yank it down in a motion that both gets my finger out of the way and closes the lid enough for the cinch motor to capture it. I also have the performance timer on the DIC that some say has disappeared from the 16s.
If those features plus increased resale value aren't enough to override the lower initial cost of a '15, and you can live without Long Beach Red or Race Yellow, you'll likely be deliriously happy with a '15. Otherwise, you'll be ecstatically delighted with a '16. No bad choices here!

I looked at a '16 in Shark Gray last night; 2LZ, A8, chrome wheels, and some other goodies that took the MSRP to a little north of $90k. Nice car but I'm still looking.

The 2016 has an electronic rear hatch that pulls itself closed all the way....
That's the first thing I noticed when I traded in my 14' cuz it used to annoy me that I had to push it down.
Sorry if thats already been mentioned

That would be a nice feature because it would be nice to not have to force it to latch.
