Default Z06 front tow hook

These questions are for those who have or have researched tow hooks.

1. Does the '16 Z06 come equipped to install an after market tow hook ?

2. Will the ZL1 addon version fit without any issues ?

3. Are there other options ?

I like ZL1 version however the shaft would look better black IMHO.

Thanks in advance.

Any one have a '16 Z06 with a front tow hook installed ?

All ZO6 have receivers front and rear for the tow hooks

Yes all our tow hooks fit fine, the only issue is to line up correctly when installing the first time.

We have a option of 1 tow hook to fit front and rear, and we have a set of 2 tow hooks with long for the front and a short one for the back.

The set of 2 all have chrome moly black shafts... The single tow hook has a chrome moly silver shaft with long threads to thread in deep to not stick out far in the rear, because that one is just to be used when needed and not left on. The D rings are forged steel and powder coated red with TOW lettering on them.

We now have receivers for the C6 rear in stock and soon for the front C6

I bought the front and rear pair for the C7 Zo6 with the black shafts and I can not get them to fit. What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem with the OEM hook I bought from the dealer. It just needed to be carefully threaded in the 1st time using a little more force to remove the coating of paint on the threads. After the 1st time, it went in much easier and it was apparent that the paint had now been rubbed off the threads.

Keep trying, it can be very difficult the first time to line up the threads.

Sounds like the threads should be chased prior to installation.

GM did not chamfer the threads or line up grill, so it takes lining up correct to start first time. call us and I can help you get it in. that's what she said lol IF YOU CALL US I GUARENTEE I CAN HELP YOU GET THEM IN 858 527 8727
We even made our shafts .010 smaller to help with that issue, but you do need to line up right.

No Black Friday sale? I was holding out on a set of tow hooks waiting for a sale.

Question: doesn't the front tow hook interfere with the front view camera?

I don't know. My car is getting a 3M clear bra installed and it is raining like hell here so I have not tried it but I don't see how it could without the ring attached. The only time the ring would be attached would be at the track so who needs a front camera then?

I was not going to add any paint protection. I never have. A buddy of mine who has a great shop showed me a video of the 3M product being scratched up with a rotating wire brush then hot water poured over it and it self healed. I was super impressed so I had him order the kit. It costs $800 and he is installing it. It goes in the paint boot for curing Tuesday.
