Canadian 2016 Z06 Roll Call
GM has really cut back the number of cars coming to Canada. Just looking to see how many guys have been getting one. I've been told by a GM executive that only 18 will be exported. I find that hard to believe?

There are already 2016s on the ground. Last month I was contacted by a dealer in Edmonton regarding a white 16 Z...asked around and its sitting at Caravaggios right now. I was under the impression there were plenty more than last year but could be wrong. Following this thread...

2016 Z06 coupe 1LZ = 79 400 US $ x 1.32 conversion = 104 808 CDN $ (source GM.COM)
2016 Z06 coupe 1LZ = 90 995 Cdn $ (Source (GM .CA)
It’s cheaper to buy in Canada (13 813$), hence GM has no interest to sell to Canada at these prices

We went through same last year and then at years end, a whole mitt full were brought in. Considering the US is getting their Z06 with supplier pricing now, that difference isn't so large...or at least that episode what has been rumored.

I ordered mine October 27, and it should be coming by May/June. Just waiting for that GM Workbench number from my dealer...hopefully they get in touch with me soon

I would confirm allocation as well as not receiving the order number was very typical of many dealerships that held onto that 5k down payment last year, yet did not have allocation.
Just sayin...and trying to help...

Ummm...you should get the workbench order number when you gave them your down payment. Otherwise you are not protected by price increases which there will be. It takes them all of a few minutes to input it and give you the order number, which you can then call GM Customer Service with to ensure it is in your name and not a dealers general order.

Besides, they have to make the special Zed06 emblems at extra cost. :-)

Better than GM getting screwed by sending cars north at a loss (or less money, anyway). It's not a public service, it a for-profit corporation. In fact it'd be against the law to NOT try to maximize profits, as the Board has a fiduciary duty to the shareholders, not the customers.

The price of cars in Canada are not going up in any significant way as the cars from Europe where the inputs are priced in Euros and the ones from Japan manufactured using Yen pricing and the ones from Korea have had no such significant change in exchange rates, like has happened versus the U.S. dollar.
So if the U.S. & GM is not only going to sell cars outside the U.S. given the current unfavorable exchange situation, then their sales are in for quite a hit. Not a good long term strategy for GM. So they will suck it up understand that some markets are going to yield better profits then others for some periods of time.
Plus the market in the U.S., even for Z06 Corvettes, in reaching full dealer stock proportion, so they are going to want to take advantage of the other less profitable markets as C7 Jake points out.
