Pulled up next to a new(er) Z28 yesterday
At a stop light.
As I was pulling up from behind, next lane, he did a bunch of throttle rump-rumps.
After I got next to him, he stopped that.
I think he figured I was driving a normal Stingray when he saw me in the mirror, and decided not to pursue it when he saw the side of the car.

Oh yeah, he saw that Red Z on the gill, and his testosterone level dropped to his ankles.

If I were a street race kind of guy I'd take my chances with an LS7 vs. a Z06 - it's going to come down to traction anyway (at least it's still likely warm there).
I can't imagine a lot of posers in a Z/28s. That car is 3 steps from being a COPO, it's so bare.

So a guy on a Z28 was enjoying the sound of his car a you immediately though he wanted to race you?

While the red C7Z gets more attention than the yellow C6Z did, both cars made people around me want to get on their throttle just a little more, make some noise, etc.
And I don't mean try to race me - just show me that their F-250 also has an engine and they'd forgotten about it until now!

Very few Mustang drivers fear Vettes because of driver perception issues. As a Cobra owner I can't tell you how many times a guy would post, "Saw a Z06 today, car was ridiculous but had the old man driver mod". I'm mostly interested in how perceptions are changing with the much more modern C7.
(PS: Obviously drivers of all ages who are passionate enough to post on a forum such as this are doing their part to erase any longtime perceptions!)

He has 300 lb weight disadvantage, and with his two passengers it was probably closer to 650 lb disadvantage, he lacks HP, even if he may have more low end torque, off the floor the manual Z28 is ~1.4 sec slower thru the 1/4 than the A8 Z according to the car rags..
And, I don't have grey hair or look 70 YO.

I let my Z/28 go to get the Z06, straight line it isn't a race with the Z06. If it is a race in the corners it will come down to the driver mod for sure.
Z/28=Muscle Car
Z/06=Racecar.

Z/06=Racecar.

ZL1 is muscle car, Z/28 is a sports car just like the Z06, just a heavier slower one with a NA engine. The Z/28 is an awesome car but cannot keep up with the Z06 in any part of a road course including the corners. Neither is a racecar.

I think that's a fair assumption. I get any number of F-250s and UPS trucks start to feel their oats when they see my car.

I also traded my Z/28 for my Z06 and I completely disagree with the above.

I have a Z/28 and I know I can't take you in a straight line. I know this, he knows this, everyone knows this. He was having fun.

A racecar can consistently do a few laps without a problem. There are many on this forum that cannot.
