Default V1 + Convertible == How not to get stolen?

I expect to get a built-in detector so people can't grab it, but is there any kind of install I can do myself (ie: no more complicated than tapping power at the mirror - I don't want to blow the dash apart) that will put it in a position where it won't get yanked every time I stop for lunch?

A friend got a quote for the 9500ci installed in the mirror and with a beautiful custom control panel down by the Z logo on the dash, but it was for $5300. You could buy a dozen 8500s and keep them in the trunk, replacing them as they get stolen.

There's got to be a reasonable midground, but what?

Other than not reaching in to grab it, I don't want people cutting the top to get to it when the top is up too, so to date I have nothing. But I also have never been pulled over nor had a ticket since 1987 (literaly) and would like to keep it that way.

I would just get the mirror mount and power tap kit. They sell them on Amazon as a bundle kit. Besides if they are going to rip your top to get into your car you'll have bigger problems than the detector is worth. Just my .02

That's kind of my point on that one - they don't care that the damage to the top far exceeds the value of the detector, they're criminals!

Does the vert not have the motion alarm? I know when my car is locked with windows down and someone reaches inside, off goes the alarm.

I have an Escort and a Blendmount for my 2004 vert. If the car is not in my sight, I simply remove the Escort and tuck it away from view. It's gotten to the point where it's a very quick process after learning the correct contact/release points.

If a thief wants anything, he will prepare for it, and take it.

Giant rip off. I paid half of that for my Bel STir remote install with AL Priority laser shifters. Keep looking.

Mirror tap and blendmount with a 9500ix. 450.00 or so all together on Amazon. Small works well
doubt you need to worry. But it does come out and in your pocket in seconds!
