Lawdogg149's new personal best lap Rd Atlanta
1 minute 29.6 seconds at Road Atlanta
Ran my new personal best with my 2015 corvette Zo6 this weekend with Chin Motorsports at Road Atlanta. The morning started off just right with a cool Georgia clear ski morning. During the warm up session I knew right off this setup with the tires and brakes were going to turn some incredibly fast times. Started off our first advanced group run which was scheduled for 40 minutes. Knowing from this summers test I knew I would only be able to get 38 minutes in but I was bond to try to make it. Half way through the session we had a car break down on the track so we went to full course black flag. All cars had to come into the pits.
This pit stop gave me just enough time to bleed down my air pressures since they had risen to 37 psi. I bleed the pirelli's down to 30 psi since the were very hot. Heading out back onto the track I could tell the car was hooked. On the first full Lap I clicked off the usually 1:34 second laps I have come accustom too. Then I decided to take what I had learned and let the aero work.
Going into turn 1 I could tell this car would hold any speed I put on it. The car was bottomed out on the shocks and the tire rubbing against the inner liner hard I had no more steering. I have rubbed through the liner and almost the composite plastic behind it during previous track weekends. Since my car is only a steel brake Zo6 it does not have the stiffer more track focused Zo7 shocks, bushings, and spring.
My mods are listed below"
Corsa mid pipe
K&n filter
Pirelli pzero slicks scrubs tires bought from GT racing tire
315/680/18 rears 285/645/18 fronts on TSW interlago 18x10.5 rims
Hawk hp70 front hp60 rears steel brake pads
My custom oil heat shield and cooling mods. $65 worth of amazon
Zo7 level 3 aero. Front and rear sections
54 degrees sunny
My personal best at this track. I do believe also this ties Tommy Milners run in the auto Zo7 ran back last year. I am no where near a pro level driver only a hobby loving guy that loves to go fast.
Thanks also to all the fellow corvette forum members whom came out and ran this weekend. Couldn't tell you how many came by to congratulate me after word got out. Thats what this forum is all about. Made me proud of this place again.
Enjoy:

160 on the back stretch.... nice! Feels good getting the point by with those Porsches quickly, they don't even try to play with ya!
Any Z07's getting that top speed with all the aero, curious?
