I took the Z06 to a CTS V track rental at Maryland international Raceway yesterday. It was quite an effort to be able to go, but the premise of negative DA and all of the tracks closing soon we're good motivators. We've been chipping away at our street tire personal best all season trying to equal BigNasty's 10.42 record from earlier in the year. I've been racing since the 1960's and I find it somewhat amazing that you can walk into your local Chevrolet dealer and leave with a fully warrantied, automatic, emissions compliant vehicle that's capable of running 10 second quarter miles in bone stock condition. It's not easy extracting absolute performance from a bone stock vehicle. Little things begin to matter. We have been trying to recapture this record for the better part of the year. I'd like to thank my beautiful wife Donna for letting me pursue my hobbies, and for not getting annoyed with my excitement about negative DA, 60 foot times, and the possibility of a mid engine Corvette on the near horizon… I'd also like to thank my friends, and crew who have helped out over all the many track sessions in the past year; Zack Culbertson, Ryland Smart, Matt Eastwood, John Hampton, Jerry ( Who also set a new blistering M7 Z06 record Friday) Justin Abbott, Chris Lakner, and a big thanks to Joe Eastwood. If it wasn't for his promptness and attention to detail I would probably never make it to one of these rentals in time to benefit from any of the morning DA ... And of course the Corvette forum. This is by far the best place for Corvette enthusiasts

So I'm clear this is a "world record" as it pertains to stock C7 Z06's with an automatic going straight. Isn't this GM's Corvette record to claim? Jim Mero doesn't claim records personally. Seems the one to thanks is GM not a "crew" and the state of Maryland and God and Allah. What did your "crew" do exactly...wash it or give you a quick pat on the ***? John Force thanks his crew and team and wife...setting a fast time for a stock car on a forum...

Damn! That's seriously quick for both the A8 and esp. the M7, massively impressive!! That track sure 'sounds' sticky...when you were rolling up you could hear the stickiness!

Now it's time for the 'show'...can't wait to hear all the excuses coming up from the haters.

No Problem Jerry. As excited as I am about the record, I was almost equally as excited to see you get the manual version deep in the tens. I have no doubt that you'll still go faster given how little time you've had in the car. And that these cars definitely get faster the more miles you put on them. I'm looking forward to our next track day!
