Default Paint problems around fender vents

Is anybody noticing problems with paint bubbling / peeling around the edge of front fender cents? I've noticed bubbling in the corners, appears to be caused by the vent movement and rubbing the fender?

The dealer is aware of the problem, not sure about resolution. Don't want to have front fenders repainted on new car. Interested to see if how anybody else has handled this.

My 2015 is doing it as well. I haven't done anything about it. It will probably look worse if they try to fix it.

The problem is that grill is held in with a series of clips. Those clips are not holding the vent in place, especially when going over bumps.

I too do not want a painted fender and, quite frankly, I don't think that will fix the problem from occurring again.

The only realistic solution I have found is to use some touch up paint. But to be more accurate with the paint, and not get any on the grill, I went to a hobby shop and picked up a variety of very fine paint brushes.

Yes, what did they do to fix it? Repaint fenders? What did they do to secure the vents to keep it from happening again?

They did not repaint the entire fender, just the small sections where the paint was chipped next to the vents. My Z is AW, which i was told was easier to match. My vents seem to fit pretty tight, no movement whatsoever. My car arrived with the issues around the vents, so I assumed it occurred at the factory when they were attaching them to the fenders. I could be wrong.

does anyone have a tried and true "fix" for this yet? my passenger side lower(just like the OP's vent) is doing same thing. mine actually has the little piece of paint chipped out of it now (which may be good so it stops spreading?).

I ordered the touch up paint pen and separate clear coat pen from automotive touch up and i'm running scenarios through my head on tackling the spot..... do i cut the tiny piece of bubbled paint off to avoid it chipping a larger piece off? or just touch up the exposed area and leave alone. Sucks to have a new Z06 in a climate controlled garage and have a paint issue like this.

i'll post pics shortly. but in short, top and bottom corners of both vents are same. passenger side lower worst of all

I think someone commented that you can lightly sand down the back side edges because they are sharp to keep it from future damage. Obviously it will require a touch up or a respray. I opted not to get mine resprayed cause I'm not confident that they can perfectly blend the DSOM.

I trimmed the lifted paint with an exacto knife and recolored with Dr Colorchip. No more peeling and good enough up to a foot or so distance.

I've put a thread on this because mine was doing it also. Even the vents on the top rear fender is showing signs. The dealer opted to spray, I opted not to. Waiting for 2 fenders and bumpers painted from Bowling Green.

Won't there be color match issues?

this is what i would have loved to do BUT they don't make shark gray anymore lol...

is what it is. i love this car.....drove it today on some backroads and had some very light fun with a new (temp tag)M550 (whatever that is) and a fiesta ST.. everyone wants a piece of this car

i'm going to do the same with an exacto knife and have it prepped good building the touch up paint over time.. it's barely noticeable from a foot like another member mentioned.

I told them before installing that I would only agree to swap it if the color is very close as possible. I'll update when I see the new panel.

Thanks look forward to seeing results.

kind if ironic, I had xpel put on the front half of the fenders to protext them from rock chips. I'm getting attacked fron behind now!

check this out i just noticed reviewing old pics. took pics of "bubble" 2 weeks ago at oil change. i noticed it getting bigger (day after I had car home I read this thread or another and notices mine was similar but it wasn't "bad enough" to be concerned).

See bottom left side of vent/fender opening. Paint intact but bubbling.

Now paint gone in same area. Bubbling is still there beyond paint chip now gone.
hopefully it has spread to as far as possible now and I can have it touched up.
