Default Doors hard to shut

weather strip break-in?

the windows appear indexing normally, this is my 2nd. c7

when i leave the window down a bit further manually the doors shut fine. its like they are indexing too late.. after the door is already attempted shut.

thoughts?

Assuming it is not an indexing problem, give it time and they will shut fine. I had the same experience. All okay now after 15,000 miles and 14 months.

Sounds like you're having trouble compressing the air in the car. To verify, roll the OTHER window down an inch and see if it makes the first door easy/normal to shut with the window all the way up.

If it's still hard to shut with the OTHER window down a bit, it's mechanical interference, be it in the seals or mechanism.

If it's easy to shut, then it's just the air in the car not wanting to compress. Normally there is venting, but if you've ever tried to shut the hatch on a C6 Z06 coupe, you know it can still be hard.

I filed a provisional patent on cracking alternate windows when one door opens, so I've thought about this a great deal :-)

They all do it. Put the window down and they will shut fine. Its not letting the window down far enough to let air out.

would be nice to alter the 'index/down' position

my z has a power close hatch, it made me wonder if they did away with the 'active venting' thingy they dried with the manual hatch, and if that was exaggerating the issue

i would rather just pull the door harder than get the car turned on to power down the window just to shut it easy

I was gonna ask about this as I noticed my driver door not closing without me giving it alittle extra effort. The back hatch is the same way but I do like the power retractable for this year. I just lay it down easy then give it a little press and it pulls in nicely.

C7 is air tight. I leave the driver side window lowered about one inch and the doors shut very well. The window does not index and I am not sure that is a good or bad thing long term.

You can manually reindex the windows. Its in your owners manual.

BUT can you change the index-down location?

as i said in the 2nd line of my post the are indeed indexing just not enough or at the right time or duration.

Ah gotcha. I would still try it to see if they somehow just got outta whack a little and reindexing would fix it.

same problem on my 2016 zo6 vert, but only drivers door. supposedly the amount the window is allowed to travel when indexed is regulated by some 'anti-pinch' regulation. dealer keeps telling me its a problem on all the c7's and to just wait awhile for it to eventually close easier. no adjustment possible.
better than the c5 verts which had a little plastic piece to hold the windows closed when at 130 mph+ LOL.

here is my window in the index down position

the idea would make more sense if it was down enough to actually let air out.

please feel free to compare with your own.

It will rectify itself as others have said. Mine did it and can't remember the time it took.
