Default Opticoat

Just thought I would share my experience with Opticoat.

Amazing. Bird poop that would have etched untreated paint came off and cannot tell where it was.

No interest other than helping fellow car people out, stuff is great and car stays so much cleaner.

Cheers!

Also from now on every new/repainted car I get will go straight to Metropolitan Detail for the same treatment. It's that good.

What is it? Is it better than wax? I use S100 from the Harley store and absolutely nothing sticks to the finish.

I've had my last 3 Corvettes sealed with Opti-Coat and find it to be amazing. Bugs and bird poop rinse right off, and car always looks like it was just polished. My dealer also coated the carpeting and leather as additional protection.I highly recommend it.

Smart move OP! I've used Opti-Coat and Modesta. Both are ceramic coatings that are great products and really save a lot of time cleaning the car. The paint protection is superb.

We have a close Friend in which His PASSION is detailing. He has been a Opticoat dealer for a few years in which he does ALOT of Hi end vehicles. I have a 2002,14 yr old GMC truck. I just had him Opticoat it about 3 weeks ago, MANNNN is that paint SLICK like glass & shine beyond belief.. VERY VERY Happy with Louques Exo-Techs, Bring my NEW ZO6 in later May to get it done as well.

Would it be OK to ask about cost? Don't mean to pry but I'm very interested. Also how long does the process take. Is it something that can be done while I wait?

I detail and install coatings in southwest florida if anyone needs anything done. The coating is only as good as the prep under it. You have to make sure that the car is perfect prior to coating. I go a step further and make sure that the glass, wheels, etc are also coated.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to ask.

P.s. that price is on par with everyone down here as well. Some will charge more for different coatings. I like opti personally but use others at request such as beeds, cquartz, etc.

I had my Z06 done about two weeks after delivery back in late 2014. The detailer washed thougholy, claybarred, and Opticoated the car and wheels for $600. To this day the car rarely even needs washing. It has a plasticy sort of shine similar the the Rejex I used to use, and sheds dirt and stuff at least as well. The treatment should last about two years for a garaged car.

Oh, and I have never waxed it or applied anything on top of the Opticoat. I just use some Opti detail spray after every second wash.

Update drove my Z in light rain. Car was a bit dusty so that left dusty dots.

Then it really rained! Drove car and pulled into my parking garage car looks like I just washed it!

Too funny, living in Seattle I drive my cars in rain sometimes, this coating means it's like washing the car. LOL

Nothing sticks. No bird etching. Perfect.

I just took delivery of a special order BMW and had it coated. Car is metallic black. Stay tuned.
Only compliant is expense, but the value in less stress about bird poop (I park at a marina a lot).
Is well worth it.

Cheers

Opticoat is fantastic. I did my 16 Sierra (black) and i haven't done a thing besides wash it in almost a year and always looks like i just finished waxing it.

OP, I've neglected the paint now and then, checked the hood in the summer and saw a lot of stains that i swore i'd be breaking out the machine for but a quick rub with a microfiber and some detailer and gone. amazing.

Yeah I had an experience with bird poop.

Washed off fine, but left a dot of discoloration size of a dime. Two days later it was totally gone.

Strange stuff !! Love it

Also Tony what detail spray did you use?

And did the cloth introduce any scratches in the black clear coat?

There are a TON of quick detailers out there. I have more expensive favorites, but for the money, I would recommend this...
