Default 2 green dots above HUD?

This morning on the way to work, I punched it a few times, got close to redline. On one of those occasions, I briefly saw 2 green dots lit up above the HUD. The dots were each positioned towards the upper right and upper left of the HUD display. Anybody knows what they were for? I couldn't make them show up again, despite several more attempts.
Thanks,

Shift lights? They come on earlier when engine is not quite warmed-up, later after, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks,
Hammer on it hard - they will show up more. In track mode - they are very apparent.

Oh, you are still learning. This car has more tricks around every corner.
Put in sport or track and run thru the gears full throttle, there will be a light show.

FYI I was in Sport mode. So what do the dots indicate?
Thanks,

Well good, that is a start. Now bring it up toward 6500 rpm quickly.

Thanks,
It's a shift light. They start out as one dot on each side of the display. As RPM increases toward red line you get two on each side then three then it's time to shift.

Great, thanks. I'm still breaking in the car, so no redline runs intended, but couldn't resist letting the RPMs climb this morning.

As you get closer to red line you get more dots and they change color. When you get to red line they flash.

I have that same urge each and every time I get behind the wheel in that thing!

As someone who shall remain nameless put in his signature line:
