2LZ vs 3LZ
Ok Guyz,
For some time now I've been lurking, reading, and learning as much as I can about the Z06. I have also been using the Corvette configuration tool on the Chevy website to build endless combinations of Z06s. What I have seen is that if I build a 2LZ with the options I would want, and then build a 3LZ with the exact same options, the 3LZ is $3K-$4K more expensive. Why is that? It seems that the only difference is some suede on the windshield pillars, and the ability to add stitching on the Mulan leather seats. Can someone please tell me if I am missing something in what the differences are? It seems that the ONLY reason to get the 3LZ is so that someone can have higher configuration of options. What are your thoughts, and thank you for your help.
Regards,
Syber

If you added nav/pdr to 2LZ then the only difference is you are upgrading to Nappa leather and having it in more places (doors, dash, steering column, etc).
And coming from someone who never really cared about lux items on my sports car, yes, it does make a difference you will notice and yes, I would do 3LZ again (had a 2014 1LT before this car).

As others have said, 3LZ gives you standard navigation and PDR (available on 2LZ for $1,795). It also gives you microsuede covering on the inside A-pillars, windshield header, and headliner. On 1LZ and 2LZ models, those areas are instead covered in a high-quality fabric that is not suede-like. Additionally, 3LZ gives you Napa leather on the seats, upper dash, and upper door panels; 1LZ and 2LZ give you Mulan leather on the seats and a high-quality manmade material (think naugahide) with genuine stitching on the upper dash and door panels. Napa is very smooth with hardly any texture while Mulan has some grain; both are great. Finally, the custom red or yellow stitching is available only with the black 3LZ interior.
Another thing to keep in mind is that with the non-black interiors, the distribution of the secondary color varies with the three PEGs (1LZ / 2LZ / 3LZ).

I've owned a 3LT Stingray and now own a 2LZ Z06 with nav/PDR.
I really liked the 3LT microfiber seat inserts but the detail I miss the most is the suede upper trim.
However these features were far more obvious to me in the light grey 2 tone 3LT than they are in the all black 2LZ - but damn I do look up at the a-pillars every now and then and wish they had the faux alcantera.
edit: GET THE 3LZ

I see where your coming from, I too ordered a 2LZ convertible with 3LZ options in a M7. I never spent this much on a corvette before, with a mortgage, being newly married, and other bills, I'm not rich so it is most affordable for me! hey its the same car without Napa leather and some suede. Its all preference, but if money is no object than do it. I'm happy with my choice!!! will you be?
Enjoy!!! it a Z06!!! my 3rd vette and my 1st Z06 and can't wait.

I had a 3LZ Z06 convertible before I purchased a 2LZ Z06 coupe. There is a night and day difference to me between the two. Both cars had the red interior. The 2LZ smells like plastic and the part of the dash above the gauges that transitions to the door panel looks and feels plastic on the 2LZ where the 3LZ felt and looked of leather. Maybe other colors won't be as noticeable, but for be, it bugged me every time I got in looking at a plastic dash on an 87K vehicle. If I never had the 3LZ, maybe it would not bother me as much.

I just went thru the same exercise. I went with black interior and didn't want all the extra suede or microfiber stuff in the interior. With it being black - I don't think I am missing out much. I did get PDR and NAV. The stitching looks nice and overall I am impressed with the interior. If you like lots of contrasting colors in the interior 3LZ would be the way to go. I wanted something subtle. Laguna Blue 2LZ with black interior.

Thank you all for your help! That is one thing I love about this forum. You guyz really go out of your way to help.
I plan on getting a TR Z06 7M Vert, with dark gray/suede interior, CF Hood- inserts-dash- CFlash painted ground effects, Nav/PDR, chrome wheels, body colored vents, yellow brakes, mats, and some other things. Those are the biggies.
If I was to go with the 3LZ, I had also thought of getting the black suede seats with yellow stitching.
Are the suede seats in the 2LZ & 3LZ the same seats, or does the 3LZ suede seats have the nicer leather?
No Z07 package as I will never race or compete, and it will be driven regularly. I felt that the cost and maintenance on the CF brakes was not something worth while.

I have 2LZ now; next time,3LZ without hesitation. Far richer interior. More Porsche-like.

Syber,
From my reading of the order guide once you go with the suede inserts or any competition seat you lose the 3LZ napa seat leather. I was undecided with my order and since I was getting a black interior with suede insert competition seats I went with a 2LZ and the Nav/PDR option.

Same as everyone else, 3LZ is "worth it", but I think perhaps not if you're getting the Comp seats, since you're then paying for an upgrade you don't get: Nappa Leather. Either the comp seats already have it (don't think so) or you don't get it (think so) because they don't change with the interior package. The GT seats do.
That's my understanding, anyway. I have a 3LZ Convertible with AR interior w/ GT seats.

The comp seats add a lot esp to the look of the interior.
They are comfortable even on long trips.
Then time you add comp seats and even 2 lz and few other musts
like the carbon flash stinger and mirrors.
The price gets in another league from where it started.
Then those 20k even 30plus k in options tank on resale if you do.
Your much more apt to keep it, afford it and enjoy it the less you spent.
Been watching them maybe looking for an A8 to go with the M7
The only one sold lately was a 1lz the one I wanted.
It was less and was less to start but sells easy.
I like the 1 lz just fine. No nav or heated seats for me.
I tried to stay as close to 80k as I could I was lucky to get 500.00
off MSRP at the time.

I much prefer the comp seats and they are very comfortable IF you fit them. I am 6'2" 190 and my first trip was the 7 hour drive back from the museum in Bowling Green. For comfort I prefer them to the seats in my premium trip Cadillac and they look great.

18,000 miles with the competition seats and no complaints. 6', 195.
