Default 94 year old bought a new Z

As stated in title, a 94 year old guy just bought a new white Z06 from the Bend Oregon dealership. I think that's great. He's doing what he wants for his LAST RIDE.

Dealer told him to keep the car out of track or sports mode. I'm 74 and it thrills me to see a guy get his dream instead of sitting around in a rocker.

Please don't hate us for having our dreams with you younger guys.

He may well be the oldest guy around getting out of one of these machines.

I'm new here....learning about the C7 in preparation for buying what I want instead of what someone wants to sell me etc. I'm 66.

In terms of the etiquette here I am curious whether this post is seen as simple unnecessary hating. I see the poster has over 10,000 posts and I am wondering how many of them are this sarcastic and crude.

If you are younger than me...and still think that you will escape the ravages of aging...then you have a rude awakening to come. Nobody is immune. I admit that I only did an hour on my bike today and 30 on weights and in the past I could did much much more.

I don't plan to give up to aging but to keep being the best I can be. The original post was positive and, to some, even inspiring.

What precisely IS your problem to word a comment in the manner you did?

Why am I not surprised one of the scumbags at Bend's Lithia dealership talked someone close to 100 years old into a Z06?
I know that dealership VERY well...speaking from experience, they are the type of GM dealership that give ALL dealers a bad name everywhere.

Younger guys become older guys. Any haters will have their turn being old then they can remember how they treated those older than themselves and enjoy being disrespected when it is their turn.

They will deserve it.

Frankly, at age 66, I see so many younger men today, even in their 20s, who are grossly overweight for their age, out of shape, and soft. It troubles me greatly to see this and I wonder how many of these wimps in their 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s would agree that "old" men are all weak and soft. The consolation for me is knowing that when and if the current crop of American manhood actually get old they will be wheezing, coughing, and impotent.

Disrespect for older more experienced people is a major cause of the decline of this nation IMO.

I honestly don't think a 94yo will be able to get in and out of the car. More likely he bought it to give to his children or grandchildren.

Depends on his physical shape...there are anomalies in life and he could very well be one of them.

Did you have to go to special school to learn how to be a jackass and berate, or does it come naturally? 13K+ posts...do you have any life at all?

Unfortunately this set of forums is like a gem mine buried under a hog operation. There is some very good stuff here but you have to hold your nose and dig through a lot of crap to find the good stuff.

This is true. I see it every day in my medical practice. Some very limber and active 90yo people. But I'm 35 and find it hard to get out of the car .

I'm 59 @ 6'2" and 275 lbs (not the best of shape)....and while it's not as easy as entry/ exit in my 911....it's quite bearable. My Viper makes it look like a piece of cake. LOL If at 90, should I still be around, and getting in and out of a car is like getting in and out of my Viper today, I'll be a happy ole man! That'd be the least of my concerns.

Exactly. I have patients in their 90s who workout, walk for miles, and play golf. Driving a car is well within the scope of some of these guys. There is really nothing difficult about driving a Z06.

Exactly.

BTW, I go over to the Bend area quite a bit this time of year to fish.
I want to see this "94 year old" behind the wheel of a 650 hp sports car for myself.

My God, the guy was making a JOKE!
For some reason, humor seems to be in short supply on this forum.

What precisely is yours? The 94 year will never see the post that was JUST IN JEST! You need to admit 94 is oldest guy to buy a Z06 and the post was in HUMOR!
Your my brothers age. Maybe lighten up a bit!
Yeah I know we are getting old. But we are as old as we feel.

30 on the weights? Hope that's not a bench work out.

Guys,

Your sarcasm doesn't always come off as sarcasm.....it comes off a just plain terrible reading and negative.

Think about THAT.....

I have an 82 yr old stepdad (a retired Air Force "full bird" Colonel) who can kick my @$$ today in tennis. I'm 41 and in pretty good shape for may age. He rides a bicycle 10 miles 6 days a week and still rides his motorcycle on 2000+ mile trips from time to time. He drives a C5 but would have no problem at all handling my Z06. I have no doubt that when he hits 94 (and he almost certainly will) that getting in and out of a sports car will be no problem for him. Mom says he's still a wild man in the sack as well (not that I needed to know that Mom!!!)

Just saying, there are exceptions.

if my dad hadnt had a stroke 4 years ago, there would have been no problem for him to get in and get out of the Vette....he is 92 now...and get rid of that stroke and he would look his age.

He sold his business that he alone worked everyday 4 years ago...6 months later the stroke hit him....his goal is to outlive his sister that lived to age 102.....go dad go!

I am truly happy for the 94 yr old being able to "drive" this car. The "child" within us, never goes away, and a "car guy" will always be a car guy.

At 74 years old , I race NASA ST1 and SCCA GT 2, holding records at all tracks I race,

Sure, there are others my age who are not able to race a car, but who knows why, is it good genes (my parents and sister all passed away by 70), good health (I love mm's and a good steak, but do try to add some health stuff) or simply good luck?

Life is a humbling experience, and the longer you live the more likely you will do many things you said you would never do.

Youth may be wasted on the young, who have the ability to do, but never really know what to do, while aging is characterized by reduced choices.

One last thing. When young we look forward and when older, look back. What you do when young makes a big difference how much fun that is or is not. Best
