2017 C7 Corvette Z06 on deck to receive cooling improvements
From GM Authority.
Tadge Juechter, lead Corvette engineer, stated around less than five percent of C7 Corvette Z06 owners have experienced heatsoak or overheating issues with their vehicles on the track. Nonetheless, the Corvette team is listening, and cooling improvements are inbound for the 2o17 C7 Corvette Z06.
Motor1 reports the cooling changes will be part of “continual improvements”, something Juechter’s team has placed an emphasis on. The 2017 C7 Z06 will receive a new hood with reworked cooling vents, and other unnamed changes to keep things cool on the track. He stated full updates will be detailed in the coming months.
The 2017 C7 Corvette Z06 will move into production this fall, while the first batch of 2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sports are assembled.
Chevrolet claims to have a fix for future and past C7 Z06 Corvettes
If you throw your Chevrolet Corvette Z06 around on a racetrack, you might be one of the drivers who has experienced a little overheating on the 650-hp supercharged LT4 V8 (or, if you're lucky, you've simply tripped the car into limp mode to save it from overheating). In a conversation with Motor1.com, Corvette's chief executive engineer, Tadge Juechter, said the 2017 Z06 'Vettes will have a new hood for better cooling, a different supercharger cover and modifications to the actual cooling system -- all working to help keep the Corvette cool.
While that's great for future Z06 owners, it doesn't fix current Z06 owners' overheating woes. According to a note sent to Autoblog, it appears Chevy will make the new parts "relatively straightforward" replacement parts for owners of previous model years. The backward compatibility makes sense, considering there aren't any major changes en route to the Corvette -- except, of course, the rumored mid-mounted engine.
Apparently, people who don't push their Z06 Corvettes to the limit shouldn't be worried -- as the problems only occur during very aggressive driving. Then again, if you have a Z06 and don't push it to the limit, WTF?
Currently, Z06 'Vette production is stopped as workers tool up for the Corvette's newest Grand Sport model. Pricing and more information about the returning Z06 will be available when the top-dog Corvette restarts production in the fall; we'll have Grand Sport driving impressions coming soon too, so stay tuned.

Can't believe the Corvette Z06 is advertized as the most capable Vette yet for around $100,000.00 and goes into limp mode after few laps on the track with M5U transmission.
I'll stay with TR6070 (MEL) transmission 2:97 first 1YX07.

Thank You for the reply.
I have read many forums on the cooling issues.
I have heard from good source about auxiliary heat exchanger being added for all 2017 Z06's
Heat exchanger to be mounted flat front of car.
I'll stay with MEL transmission.

Based upon what some say, one might expect the Z06 to overheat on a few block trip to the local grocery store!
The Z06 as said by Tadge, the chief engineer, was designed for the track to not overheat at temps to 86*F.
The fact that some track the car at 100*F is the problem not the car. Tadge has indicated now that they will make hardware updates available to those that find it necessary to track at 100*F.
Next, someone will complain about overheating at 110*F!
Nothing to fix if it ain't broke!

The Z06 has the MEK transmission with the 2.29: 1st gear.

I replied to your post as I didn't want people to falsely believe that the C7 Z06 comes with a 2.97:1 1st gear transmission. The way your post was written, the causal visitor to this website would be led to believe the C6 Z07 has a 2.97:1 1st gear which is false and is why bad information abounds on the internet.

Ok.
Will be good.

This 86F design spec is BS. I've seen people overheat while on track whilebelow 86F ambient temps.
