Going bracket racing , any tips ?
Well , the wife and I have decided to go to a track in a couple of weeks time . I'm going take the vette and my wife's going to take my Shelby.
This is a 1/4 mile track .
Not a real track , its an airstrip runway that they hold races at every year but its the best we have up here .
So , does anyone have any tips ? This is bracket racing and we are both green as grass in regards to racing . Both cars are stick shifts

My first time out I left everything in the same mode (pick your own poison).

Bracket racing is about consistency and control.
Whatever you do with your car, make sure you do it exactly the same down to the nanometer, tenth of a psi, including where you stage the car in the beams, etc. Every aspect. Oil level, fuel level, tire pressure, burnout length, coolant/oil temps, etc.
Everything else is trial by error. How long to burnout, etc. Depends on the tire, track, weather, etc.
And so on, etc.

Oh, and leave on the last yellow, don't wait for the green.

From an ex-drag racer from the Sixties, all the advice offered is excellent and this is the best one. We used to say that if you see the green light you lost. While watching others race try to time yourself to launch when the last yellow light is halfway through its cycle. The hole shot is everything.
Good luck, you'll have a ball!
