I could not find the Jim Mero explanation you speak of. Is this something new ?

I've driven both and its pretty clear the C7 Z06 is the superior car in most aspects. The ZR1 is quicker up top but that's where its advantages end in my opinion. The C7 line as a whole is on another level of versatility, build quality, refinement, and technology. Which is what we should all expect...

And the ZR1 was definitely over-engineered making it a very bullet proof 205 mph super car.

On the flip side I would imagine many who love the newest body style found on the C7 Z06 may find the the body style on a C6 ZR1 looks outdated.

I have owned both cars.
The LS9 after 150MPH was gone but bogged under 3,500 RPM's.
The LT4 / A8 is much more responsive throughout any RPM, GM really spread the power out nicely.

These are all manual cars.
I had purchased a 2009 ZR1 and a 2008 ZO6 along with My 2015 Z06.
Owning them at the same time. Yes my garage is more than 4 stalls with almost 1000 sq ft.

I would drive the ZR1 for a week then switch back and forth with the 2015 Z06.
Stock to stock the ZR1 is the faster car. All comes down to power vs weight.
The 2015 Z06 needs a few mods to compete but not much or many.
After adding some mods then the difference is the new Z06 is the much better handling car.

I was seeing no sense in having the 2009 Zr1 which was outdated next to the Z06.
I like the LT4 better than the LS9.
Right now the Z06 is my only Corvette waiting to see if I like the ZR1 or what the new cars bring, BEEN ON THE FENCE also about
buying a A8 since prices are cheaper so I could just have both the M& and A8.

Gotta love the guys who "stir the pot". LOL!

I'm slow, but doesn't that mean the Z06 is:

- Faster on the road course (round the ring in 7:13 vs 7:20)
- Faster 0-60
- Faster quarter mile

So other than top speed, which I'm not sure about because of aero stages, does it win anywhere? I mean yeah, it had fancy rods, but beyond durability I mean.

Who really cares about "top speed". I mean what difference does it make if the car can go 185 or 200 MPH?

Default Now is the time to buy a C6ZR1 ?????

If you consider the low-number of C6 ZR1's produced, and the current price of 3-12K mile pristine examples selling for low-60K prices, is there any question that now is the time to buy?.....Where can you buy a new corvette or any 2-seater that will match the performance, horsepower, and comfort for 60K !!!! I only found about 30 C6 ZR1's for sale last week in the condition and mileage I described....With only about 4000 produced, this car if kept pristine and stock, will certainly have a shallow depreciaton curve in the future compared to any of the C6 or C7s,,,,,Just an opinion of a C7 Z51 owner who has experienced the C6Zr1, and got hooked.....!!!!
