Default My 2015 ZO6 up in flames

Here are some painful pictures of my zo6 being transported from Long Island NY to Florida. As you can see the truck did not make it past South Carolina before destroying all the cars on the trailer.

Wow! That was a bunch of Totals. Sorry to hear. Hopefully your insurance company can move quickly enough so you can get a 16 while the 20 off deals are still happening.

Any idea of what caused the fire? Brakes on the trailer over heated? Doesn't look like the truck itself caught on fire.

Trailer tires have a ring of fire, so I suspect it was the trailer brakes.

Makes me want to My money's on one of the brakes on the trailer tandems catching fire. That would ignite the axle grease used on the slack adjusters along with the hub oil. At that point it's all over but the crying. In addition to which, on a car hauler, the reservoirs for the hydraulic rams are back there. That stuff is flammable big time.

wonder how long he drove down the road with smoke billowing out of the tandems before he noticed a problem.

Exactly! I have had to use these transporters on the east coast between NY, NC, and my home in Florida. What a bunch of tools! Everyone of them. Worst than tow truck drivers.

I tow my Z a bit on the east coast and I am constantly checking my mirrors to look at trailer tires and lowering my radio to listen for noises. I will bet this guy drove for quite sometime to ignite those tires! How did it get past the tires or one car? he didn't have a fire extinguisher???

Sorry for the OP, hope you get a new better Z out of it!

That's a bad burndown. Your Z06 seems to be amongst the worst damaged.

Your tires have almost no tread left, likely from the fire, unless you have a Z07.

Depends on how distracted he or she was while driving. I've followed drivers with obvious brake issues for miles before they would pull off the road. Ever been behind one that blows a tire and keeps on going while it shreds rubber all over the highway for miles ? Some of them just don't give a crap.

Have you ever seen the fire extinguisher the DOT requires ? It sucks. In fact, it is the same size as the one that fits the mount that goes in front of the passenger seat of our cars.. The only ones required to carry a larger one are the hazmat haulers such as the fuel tankers.
