Default 2015 Z06--should I be careful?

Hello,

Been in the market for a new 2017 z06 (because of the cooling upgrades) however the used car market is getting very attractive.

I am looking at a couple 2015 cars. Should i be worried about a 2015 model, it being the first year and all. Are there any known issues with this year (besides cooling, im not looking to track just spirited drives every now and then). Does a 2016 have any advantages versus a 2015?

Thanks everyone!

I have had my 2015Z for going on two years. Mine is an M7 with absolutely no issues. Cooling is not an issue unless you track the car heavily. The 15 and 16's are the same car with the exception the 15 has 100,000 mile power train warranty where the 16 does not.

the 16s have a bunch of little features. Soft close rear trunk and front parking cameras to list two off the top of my head. I wouldn't hesitate on a 15.

Forgot to mention all the cars i'm looking at are m7, no A8.

Also, a couple of the cars i'm looking at are certified pre-owned cars.

Go with a '16. Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Front Cameras, Power hatch etc.

The front cameras are a life saver, especially if you have a stage 2 or 3 front splitter

I have a 2015 and I'd go 2016 to get cameras, Carplay, and faster AV stack. If you're driving an M7 and not road-coursing it the heating is a non-issue to you. As in "will never happen".

Apple Play is cool, but other than that, I had no problem with my 2015

If the price is right and for what you said you will use it for, go for it without hesitation.

Default 2015

I have a 2015 M7 2LZ and I track it. NO issues with over heating.
I did do some of the preventative things suggested on the forum before I tracked it.
1. Remove upper rubber hood seal
2. 80/20 antifreeze and WATER WETTER
3. Header wrap on Cats and oil cooler lines.
4. Fabricated a heat shield for oil filter/oil cooler unit by drivers side Cat.

Can't you add the cameras in the front to the 15?

I have a '16 with a few more standard features, but there is certainly nothing wrong with the '15, and I've NEVER had any issues w/overheating. If you don't plan to track, then it's a non-issue.

Get a '15 or '16 and enjoy

From what we've been told, no. For one thing, there is no harness to the front end, BCM is evidently different. Different DIC head unit. Etc The cost to try it would be astronomical for a single vehicle imho.

I just purchased a 2015 and for the price delta of 2015-2016 vs the upgrades such as the front camera..While a camera is a nice feature and I've had one in my SL550 I found I used it primarily just trying to get in tight in my garage. Other than that I never really had a use for it. I think the extra PT warranty would be a plus (even though mine did not get the full 100K-dealer demo track car. I got a partial). I think if there is a big enough price difference the 15 will do you proud.

I added a "Curb Alert" sensor on my 2014 C7 and it works well. I know it is not a camera, but it keeps the front end from damage. It beeps when I am 18" away from a straight-on parking curb.

C7jim,
What kind of front camera did you get? I am also interested in nav tool...did you install it yourself? What type of connection do you use on the end of the iPhone? Website says plug and play. Thanks In Advacne!
