The Ring is a tuning tool. Ring times are bar talk and regular people won't get those times. Pointless.

No kidding...it makes you wonder why GM even bothered to publish all those other times, including the ZL1 time they just ran a short while ago.

They could have ran a M7 version. Pretty sure they wrecked a car during testing as well. It is still interesting as to why they never pursued it. They must have expected a great disappointment in comparison to the older Z06, ZR1 and other GM models. Remember cars arent supposed to regress ...

The C7Z is the baddest car GM builds today yet it's not on the list, all the talk is around the ZL1 which is great. Come on GM let's see what the Z can do!

2012 C6Z holds the 3rd quickest time, nice!
Quickest Z06 on the list to date with older technology and no power adder.

^^^ The saying there is no substitute for power also applies to light WEIGHT.

The marketing value of a 'Ring trip is minimal, but I'd sure like to see Ford run the production GT...

All factors, weight being one of them, come into play. Ultimately, based upon the sum of the pieces, the vehicle performance is what it is. Shortcomings and strengths become known, and that's what makes comparisons so interesting.

In 2015 Autoweek reported that the C7Z had run the "Ring" in 7.08. However, Chevrolet denied it most likely because they didn't want to take the heat regarding the ban on record runs. The denial was the result of Nurburgring officials banning record attempts after Nissan GTR took off on a high speed crest and left the track, killing a spectator. Theoretically the C7Z should run it in 7.05 according to GM engineering numbers.

NOT to be contrary, but do you have a link to said numbers?
