2018 (ZR1?) info/deal list started. Email or call Mike Furman 301-212-4420****
~We all expect (and soon) the announcement coming for the HIGH HP Corvette for 2018. I also expect production will begin late 4th qtr 2017 as a 2018 model. Horsepower guess...750 +/-. No proof on any of this but after 39+ years of selling Corvettes my educated guess could be close. If you would like to be well informed as info gets released please send me an email with your complete contact info (mfurman@criswellauto.com) or call my desk direct line (301-212-4420). Exciting times as always with America's #1 Sports Car.

Saw Mike @ Street Speed 717 already placed a deposit. How long is your ZR1 list at this point. Is his suggestion of a $110K starting point pretty solid?

400+ horses out of the old LT5 which they broke ground on back in the 80s. 30 years progression in technology and increased displacement would allow for a figure close to 700. It all seems too good to be true, unfortunately. I'm hoping for a DOHC reveal but will probably end up reading about an upgraded blower on top of the LT4 architecture....that would actually be cheaper for GM and the beancounters rule the roost.

The C4? ZR1 was the last to have a DOHC right? The C6 z06 and the c6 zr1 had different engines.
I don't think it would make sense to have the ZR1 share the LT4 from the z06, even with an upgraded SC, more cooling, more aggressive tune to get 700+hp even when we know it's very possible.
I don't doubt the DOHC is in the works, i really believe it's going to be twin turbo. Sort of like the ecoboost lol
But again no one knows, we can only imagine and assume.
Like i said, this is exciting lol.

Safety Car
With Porsche, Honda, Ferrari, or Yamaha (think Lexus LFA) quality head design it's possible. There is nothing American that would get to 700hp from 6.2L on the market. Ford is nowhere near with the Vodoo engine which makes me skeptical as well.
Possible, but not likely.

I can't see a GM 6.2L making 750+/- (according to Mike above) DOHC NA with an ACTUAL warranty right off the bat.
That kind of power would be achievable with FI, not NA.

For example, it feels like the ME has been talked about forever and a day.

Melting Slicks
Having been to Road America in August previously, that would be a stupid place to debut a new halo C7 model. That race isn't even that well attended, let alone has any significant media coverage.
GM might as well just pick a Thursday afternoon in June, call it 'Corvette Day' and release the car.
