ZR1 not unveiled until August?

What if the camo's cars we have been seeing photo's of are not so called ZR1's, Zora's or even Zero's. What if they are nothing but a revised Z06 that will be released as a 2018 Z06 in June, and as normal, the details are not revealed until the car is ready for production.

You might be right. I've been wondering the same thing for some time. In fact, we've seen spy shots of various cobbled together things, and I keep thinking that maybe it's part of Corvette's effort to keep everyone guessing. If so, it's brilliant...if not frustrating. It's got to be damn difficult in this day and age to keep a supercar quiet. I mean we all remember the C7 leaks here on the forum. Maybe GM learned something...

Doesn't really matter what they call it.......we know it will have improved cooling and more HP!

And even a really far fetched possibility, but possible, is that Toyota went down to a local Chevrolet dealer and purchased 5 or 6 Corvette Z06's.
Then Toyota removes the Chevrolet drivetrains and install a DOHC Twin Turbo Toyota V8 or V6 and a DCT transaxle and then mold some one off front ends and some rear wings/spoilers to test cooling and aero. Throw on some camo and start testing on public streets. Everyone would think the cars are GM ZR1's and Toyota would be able to develop their sports car and surprise the automotive world when they reveal them 6 months before they actually start building the car for retail sales.
They would be Toyota mules for a new Toyota sports car. I've not seen anywhere on those camo'd cars a Corvette emblem or Chevrolet badges that identify them as a future GM product.
What better way to hide what you are doing, by testing your drivetrains in a car(that you legally own and can modify to your heart's desire) that was originally built by another car company.

The pictures reveal one thing. The cars can be driven in the snow and don't disappear in a flash of smoke. Interesting tread pattern is visible on the rear tires. A lot of snow build up from the plows in the background. Do they have that much at the proving grounds in Michigan?

My guess is that we will see limited production run for late 2017 just like how GM started 2017 Z06 production in late 2016. Dealers will ask for insane markups. It will be priced just a little more than the previous ZR1. ($125,000 range). I would wait for second year model to get one.
I am sure Z06 sales will stay strong because it does provide insane performance at a lower cost. I am sure some of the Z06 track oriented owners will install dual coolers on their Z06's with ZR1 front bumper. I mean why not. Solves the cosmetic issue of aftermarket bumper openings

I think this video is the latest where a GM employee is speaking about Corvettes.
Can you point to where Ryan Vaughn says the car in question is a ZR1 and that it will be shown at Road America?

When you make a statement of fact, it's up to you to provide a link to a GM press release that states that fact. Can you?

Exactly....
GM has never officially announced they are even building another ZR1.... All of these rumors, spy shots etc etc are pure speculation by theorists....
Now I wouldn't be surprised IF they did build another ZR1 but....I also wouldn't be surprised if all of these spy shots we have been seeing are just a revamp of the Z06 for 18' to address the cooling issues and finish out the C7 line until the 19' C8 mid engine cars "supposedly" come out.
All of this "750hp ZR1" rumors are complete BS....all rumors. No one knows what GM is doing, even the so called "insiders"... Taking deposits on ZR1s without even knowing if they are actually being built is just insane..LOL
People need to chill out, kick back, drink a beer and wait it out....and in the mean time, enjoy our outdated, under powered, over heating C7Zs...
