Tony Mamo Ported TB installed
#41
Ordered mine about 2 weeks ago. I need this shot of hp/tq so bad, I can taste it. I had the Ls7 on my CTSV and picked up drastic throttle response and about 10hp at the strip. Tony knows his stuff! Can't wait🤔

^^^I ordered mine from Tony last evening. He told me the same thing. Guess we're all excited about getting it. Hope it doesn't throw any codes on my 'completely pure stock 16 Z06!

^^^ I did ask Tony about that and he said not to worry. It doesn't seem to be an issue as a stand alone mod. I think some have reported it throwing a code when combined with a c a i
I'm also doing the Borla X pipe. I tread lightly modding a brand new Z. It's plenty fast, stock. I just wanted to eliminate the throttle lag, especially starting from a stop with the M7. I like it loud, so the Borla should help. A little extra horsepower is ok too.

^^^ I also hate the lag on my M7. Hoping this will help. I do plan on a tune though.

I can port your TB....lead time is about the same however
PM me for details....we can work something out Im sure
We can plan on you sending it a certain time to minimize the car's down time etc.
Guys once again I apologize about the long wait....it's been due to supply issues on my new GM cores. I have a new source now and have twenty arriving tomorrow and plan to ship a good number of these starting next week (the older orders first naturally). I'm hoping a month or two from now Im caught up and actually have shelf stock so there is no waiting for guys ordering them at that point in time
Cheers,
Tony

.... and the ones you're now getting are still GM units and not a knock off T/B, correct?

Quick Update....
Guys....currently shipping TB's ordered up till 2/14
Anything ordered previous to this has already been shipped!
I probably mailed a half dozen or more of these in the last week or so to some of the older customers....would love their feedback here if they have the time. Shipping four more tomorrow
Slowly getting thru the back order (not that I have TB's to port!) and my goal is to have a half dozen or so on the shelf so no waiting in the future....guessing that will take me around a month or so with everything else on my plate at the moment
Cheers,
Tony

Burning Brakes
I received my TB on Monday and installed it this morning.
Mine is a base 1 LT not a Z06.
I was drinking coffee while performing the install so it took me about 45 minutes instead of the 5 minutes some have claimed.
Took a deep breath and pushed the button.......no codes!
I took the car out into traffic to see if the response from a dead stop was improved, it is. My issue was the car just didn't want to move with light throttle input off the line. That's gone now, much improved.
I then drove out of town onto my deserted test road. From a roll of about 5 MPH I stomped the throttle and it stepped the rear end over into the other lane. Hmmm....never did that before.
I tried it from an idle and it just blew the tires off. I was experiencing a hesitation before. It's still hesitates from an idle to wide open, but it's much less than before.
Need to take it back out and try it from say 1000 RPM and stomp on the throttle.
I suspect it will take a full dyno tune to cure the hesitation completely. For the money Tony charges for a new ported TB you can't go wrong.

Mike....thanks for the input and glad your pleased with it!
The boosted guys will have even less hesitation (Mike's car is an LT1 normally aspirated application) because I can get at the TB more....meaning get even more aggressive with the porting work in the housing bore. For some reason the N/A cars are really sensitive to opening up the TB and while you don't throw a code there is a lean spot if I port it like a supercharged version. Now because the supercharged engines are programmed so rich (extra safe) from the factory they actually benefit from the more aggressive porting cause it actually helps put the AFR in a more ideal range.
Also, the nannies in the OEM computer will never let you just mash the throttle to WOT right off idle (unless you tune this out)....not to mention its not really natural do do that in most racing applications as most WOT transitions happen at a higher starting RPM than idle speed (most....not all).
The ported TB will make it better but that will always be present as the computer pulls like 30' of timing from the engine in that exact situation trying to preemptively avoid any knock/detonation issues. It is minimized even more with the LT4 TB's I do but flat footing it right off idle will always cause a light lag.....much improved with the TB however.
Catch you guys soon

2015 C7 of the Year Finalist
Got my TB today, install was fast and easy. Took my 2015 A8 Z06 for a ride, had no codes, I could feel the difference but was no able to accelerate the way I wanted too because it was 40* and tires will not hook up at these temps. I will report back when the weather warms up again.
