Pretty cool what these cars are capable of.
I can only do about 30 feet of that, any further and my insurance will be involved.

Indeed.... looks like fun, and I'm sure it's hard to do well, but like any other burnout, pointless.

Except the fun part!

Actually I only care because I assume there's a wide swath of the youth population who thinks drifting is actually a fast way around the track.

The latest Car and Driver (or one of the other american mags) had a break down of car rotation through a corner during off road rally driving. Very very interesting read on how flicking and sliding a car into the corners actually rotates them more quickly and lets them get on the power sooner...making it a faster cornering event. Kind of fascinating that the theory only pertains to loose surface driving. You'd think it would be true for all driving.

Mom and Dad also paid good money for the video. Nicely done. Jr does have some skill. Bet a lot of us could beat the Hell out of our cars too if we weren't responsible for the repairs.

I admit, pretty cool, perfectly edited video. However, I'd like to also see the bloopers cut of the vid where the turns/drifts didn't go so well!!

As a young person myself, I can easily say most younger people seem to be more interested in drifting rather than regular track days/ road courses. Only a handful of my friends are more interested in road course driving.

That being said, I definitely respect the drifters out there. It takes lots of skill to do what they do, just like it would take someone to run a fast lap time

Me too!!! I'm trying to kill the back tires off my Z to get ready for spring...... its hard to find somewhere where you dont risk the long arm of the law..........

That was way cool and WAY safer then the normal cars and coffee take the changes of ruining our image street tire smoking.
