Sorry I have to ask...do the problems happening with the A8 pertain to the Z06 also?

Sorry to ask but I have seen a few low mileage used Z06 VERT cars that caught my eye and am wondering if the same problems people are having with their A8 trannys in their Stingrays and GS'S also pertain to the Z06 model cars ? Thanks Dave

I went on the Z06 section and did not see any problems mentioned in threads .

Dave, the problems (primarily torque converter issues) don't seem to be showing up in the Z06 and my belief is the problem comes from the frequent AFM/V4 operation in the regular Stingray. The Z06 rarely goes into V4 mode and mine never does since I either have a Range module plugged in or use the transmission set to manual mode which prevents V4/AFM operation. In V4 mode the torque converter mechanical clutch is "modulated" to reduce the vibration from operating in this mode meaning it is continually releasing for brief periods of time in V4 mode. The Z06 has a carbon fiber torque tube which doesn't do as well as the steel torque tube in the other models at absorbing vibration, it doesn't have the AFM sound control valves found in the LT1 equipped models, and the lower compression of the LT4 gives it a different power curve in off-boost operation which are probably all reasons it is programmed with a less aggressive AFM activation. Because of this you won't find a Z06 going into AFM mode except under very limited conditions.
My A8 equipped Z06 (March 2016 build) has been flawless.

Some other have also have had A8 tranny failures like I did but for the most part they seem to be holding up fairly well. One other C7 Z06 owner local to me had the same thing happen to his A8 trans with only 1,600 miles on the car. If you LOVE the car buy it and don't worry about it that is what you factory warranty is for just don't modify the car with dyno tunes, etc., and void said factory warranty.
Best of luck to you!

Early in the run, some of the A8s had bad torque convertors.
In later builds it doesn't seem to come up much.

Have the first A8 in a production Z06. Car Obviously is a 2015 Have had Zero Tranney problems, Zero problems with the car period other than a bad door speaker.
I know of No local Z's that have had Tranney issues.

No problems here nor have a I seen any, other than the "delayed going into gear when cold" problem due to fluid drainback, but it's not much of a problem, and can be fixed if you like, but no one I know of has bothered.
Otherwise bulletproof so far!

This thread is a bit of a surprise to me. I've been following all the A8 transmission problem threads for quite some time now and I'm surprised that the vast majority of the failures are occurring on non Z06 models. I guess I need to pay more attention to which forum these A8 threads are originating from.
My Z06 is a 2016 built on 8/17/2015 and I have just over 10K miles on it with no issues whatsoever. And I'm not speaking about just the A8. The car has been flawless. I hope this continues and that the thread above concerning why the Z06 models aren't experiencing a rash of A8 issues is correct. Thanks for sharing that.

There are many with the issue, those not responding may be tired of talking about it or they may have sold their car an moved on to something else. Here are a few threads on issues but there are more if you search.

This happens in V4 mode just before going back to V8 mode. It happens when the vehicle is on mostly flat terrain and with little load on the drive train. if you set your instrument cluster to indicate V4 or V8 there is a 100% correlation between the noise and the cylinder deactivation system.
I posted it last year and got a lot of responses in the Z06 forum.
I am getting ready to get the car out of storage and if it is still there, and I have every expectation it will be, we will be having a conversation at the dealership.

I am hearing a (mild) "Rumble Strip" kinda noise on my 2016 Z06.

GM will want to do a "triple flush" on the trans, new filter and make you drive it for 200 miles, then report back....(when it shudders again in 200 miles)
My wife's 16' SS Camaro is at the dealer as I type this for the same issue. Shop foreman said it needs a converter, GM won't spring for it without doing the flush job first..

Have those with issues had them 'resolved' by deleting dod?
