Default What SCCA autoX class for a Callaway?

Anyone know if it would run in the same class with the other C7 Z06's, or does the supercharger bust it out into a more open, modified class?

Also, I know previously the Sport Cups would bump you out into another class but I think that might have changed this year?

Check out the SCCA Web Site for 2017 car classifications:

https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

The following make/models are not eligible for the Street Category: Callaway Corvette

Super Street Class (SS)
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (2017)
Corvette Z06 (C7) (2015-2017)
Corvette ZR1

It's funny that the Callaway just gives you more power and is ineligible. The extra power in a stock Z over a base corvette is already useless in autocross.

LOL....Agree totally, finally somebody who says it's not all HP in autocross, I've been trying to get some folks to admit it's more about suspension/tires than HP for to long, THANK YOU!

Just for giggles check out the new GS times vs. the ZR1 on the GM track and I believe the GS is 2 seconds quicker!! (sorry I know the GM track is not autocross)

I totally agree, and so does SCCA as evidenced by the Grand Sport and Z06 being in the same class.

I couldn't get the link to work. I must be doing something wrong.

I recently joined the SCCA, but haven't done anything with them yet. I'm not sure where my car falls as far as class either.

From what I could gather, if you're running the Cups, you need to be in SSP. Otherwise, SS.

I could totally be wrong though!!!

I'm no expert at SCCA rules, they can be complicated, but if the car came with cup wheels (i.e. C7) and you are just doing regional events I think you can run in SS rather than SSP. At the National Solo events you would need to run in SSP. See bellow...

13.3C. 1. Any tire which is OE on a car eligible for Street Category may be used on that car in Regional Solo® events. OE tires must meet all requirements of Section 13.3 to be eligible for National Solo® events.

This.

My neighbor just went through this and came to the same conclusion after inquiring.

Looked at the link and the ZO6 appears to be the C6 model (LS7 motor). Still an interesting comparison given the minimal differences in lap times.

My 2015 Z06 is in SSP. The Z06 places you in the SS Class and if any changes (i.e tires, CAI, etc) that bumps you into SSP (Super Street Prepared)
