2015 C7 Z06 oil pressure question
What should the oil pressure on my 2015 Z06 be at 4100 miles?
What I am seeing is at cold startup at 600 RPM about 38-40 lbs. At normal operating temp, driving at a steady 1400 RPM about 38 lbs. At normal operating temp at 5000 RPM about 45-48 lbs.
My 2007 Z06 at cold start at 600 RPM was 52-55 lbs. At normal operating temp, driving at a steady 1400 RPM about 50 lbs. At normal operating temp at 5000 RPM about 65 lbs.
The oil pressure difference between the C6/Z06 & C7/Z06 is substantially different.
The C7 just seems low. Is this normal for the C7 Z06?
Thank you for your thoughts and experience.

I have a '16 Z06 and your numbers are about the same as mine. Oil pressure is typically a function of the oil pump psi and the relief valve setting. Don't get too hung up on lower numbers unless it drops way low...5-10 psi, then you have a problem.

Talk to few owners, 15, 16, and 17 Zs have the same numbers. Some people are using 40,and 50 oil at all times. I'm thinking about using 10W40 for the next oil change.

Thank you for your feedback! I guess the oil pressure we are seeing is normal although from my experience with higher pressures on my C5/Z06 and C6/Z06 the pressure is much lower on the C7.

It is normal, pump is controlled and will be commanded to high flow/pressure when conditions warrant but otherwise it stays in the lower pressure mode to gain some additional fuel economy. If you watch the gauge closely at normal cruising speed during warmup you will see it cycles up briefly to much higher pressure for brief periods as it goes through a self check. If there is a control failure the pump will default to its high flow/pressure mode.
The operating pressure it provides is plenty and the higher pressure under some conditions that we are used to with prior engines wasn't necessary but was a byproduct of the design to ensure there was enough pressure under high stress conditions. With the LT-1 and LT-4 the pump itself is variable so it doesn't produce extremely high cold oil or cruising pressure because it doesn't have to do so.
