Default The Twisted World of the Mid-Engine C8 Corvette

With all the contradictory reports out there, perhaps we'd better wait this whole C8 mid-engine thing out, at least until we hear it from someone other than an “inside source.”

This same silly rumor from "inside sources" or "sources close to the corvette team" come up with each new generation since the C4 to C5 so WHY aren't we surprised at this? I never believed it from the get go and still call bullcrap on ANYONE that claims to know otherwise. Other than the LeMans prototype racer don't expect to see anything in the mid engine behind driver format wearing a corvette badge. Can we put this to bed now and move on? I'm far more interested in a "Grand Sport" version of the C7 wearing the C7Z body and suspension but the LT1 engine.

I read an article by Bob Lutz which seemed to indicate it may be happening. They said that HP limitations are as far as they can go with the front mid engine car. The ZR1 they discuss is a mid engine platform twin turbo.

I don't think it would be a Chevy small block

Curious if they will do this since you could put a supercharger on the lt1 from there and have essentially a z06.

now that ford is pumping a tt v6 to 600 hp in the gt, I'd love to see GM take some parts out of the ecotec bin and build a nice little TT DOHC v8 a 4.5 TT should be enough to get decent mileage with an 8 sp and pull over 700 hp

be nice to see a direct injector and a port injector to make the upgrade path easier

I hope you are real young so your retirement is a long, long time from now. Rear engine Corvette will never be seen for most of us alive today ( I don't believe it ever will be seen by anyone ). At 65 years old I have been hearing that it is the next big thing coming since I was 20 years old.
