Default GM is renting Laguna Seca

General Motors is renting the Laguna Seca track on March 14,15, and 16. I've never seen GM rent this track as long as I've lived here. I seriously doubt they are using it to expand their fan base like BMW, Porsche, McLaren, Mercedes AMG, and Lexus has done in the past with ride and drive expos. Most likely they are using the three days to test the Corvette ZR1, ZO6, Camaro ZL1 1LE, Cadillac CTS-V and anything else in their lineup that might require track test data. They also might be there to set a ZR1 lap time before they release the ZR1 to the public. A few years ago Viper rented the track for a few days to set up the new "at that time" ACR. They then called in Randy Pobst to fly in and set a new production car track record which still stands today. Clearly Corvette has been developing the new ZR1 to take down the ACR and any other supercar track records. I will drive up to the track and monitor the activity during those days. Hopefully something exciting will come from it.

I'm actually getting pretty good with my iPhone lap timer. It's still not quite as handy as my Robic chronometer though. I was at Laguna a few weeks ago when Ford was there doing Laps with their new production spec Ford GT and I got some great videos of it lapping. The sound even came out well.

This is why they created Mavic Pro drones. 1300, go hover that thing near the track and let's see this.

The 'ring is becoming problematic for development work. Using Laguna is a better option.
