Default AWD 2018 mid-engine?

Are the GM engineers considering an All Wheel Drive Corvette? Space under the hood might be an issue and also the added weight. but the handling and cornering would be out of this world. Audi and Subaru have perfected the concept!

It's all speculation at this point. Mid-engine seems like a real possibility. AWD? I honestly hope not. There are already AWD cars out there if you want one, but they add weight, cost, complexity, etc. I have owned a bunch of AWD sports cars but I always come back to lighter RWD sports cars being my favorite.

If I could design my dream Corvette it would be smaller, and lighter than the currrent car and mid engine with a manual transmission. Keep RWD, and low to the ground with the current design as a drivers car first in the cockpit.

^^^ Of course!!! No turbo charged 4 cylinder for me.. Been there done that lots of times. Prefer naturally aspirated V8... 460hp/tq is plenty especially if you can reduce weight by another 100-200lbs.

I hope not, and I honestly don't think they're going to go there... The big technological advancement I'd like to see is a proper dual clutch transmission. That said, I hope they make a stick too. It would certainly make the car stand out in the market.

I'm fine with it as long as in track mode it has like a 90-95% RWD bias and has those characteristics. The "massive" weight gain of roughly 100-130 lbs will be worth it when you can launch insanely fast and its still amazing on the track. If its properly designed and makes 700+ hp then I'm down for it. I don't however want a hybrid AWD system, that just adds too much weight, easily 400-500 lbs.

Lambo has used AWD in its cars since Chrysler bought it & built the Diablo to stop low talent drivers from killing themselves.

W modern traction control it's not necessary, unless you plan on driving it in the snow.

^^ That would be Volkswagen not Chrysler. This isn't about it being necessary, a super car isn't necessary!! I don't care either way because the ME layout will supply better traction no matter what. Lambo huracan performante just set a new ring lap record and I'm pretty sure it's going to be AWD.

^^^ VW bought Lambo after Chrysler owned it

VW may have bought it from Chrysler.

The 1st Audi Lambo was the Murcielago

The Diablo was Chrysler.

It's ok to be confused, Lambo has had LOTS of owners.

^^^ You're right, my bad. Chrysler owned them since I was a toddler. VW has owned them for about 2 decades.

It would be great to see a mid-engine, dual clutch, AWD Corvette.
