The rear doesn't look long enough for a rear engine. Usually rear engine cars look a little disproportionate compare to what we are used too. This doesn't look too far off from a regular front engine car.

Corvette will never have just a single tail lamp on each side. The tail lamps need splitting and a double upward curve making a modified U on each side in a slenderized version of what we have now. Otherwise the tail lamps I think look good. I also think the front end is going to have more of a pointy beak on center like that rendering that was taken down by that one supplier.

Lol, this is a joke, right? If the MR vette looks like that, GM will have made a bigger mistake than Honda did with the Gen 2 NSX. Hey CF, I don't see any "magic" in your render artists pen. Thankfully, he isn't working for Corvette...

Compared to the NSX and even the Ford GT, this looks great. It's taking a little getting used too, like most new Corvette designs, but it looks better after some time spent analyzing form with respect to function. The rear looks good. Dumping the round tail lights in preference for a linear design moves on to LED tech. Why not, it's not a retro design.
Overall length - the race car designs are a bit over-stretched. This looks more day to day friendly. A GM V8 will fit in a 914. Why would it not fit without a long, long, long tail? Key here is likely the trans design and it will be new. If Honda can fit a 10 speed in a compact front wheel drive package, GM can do it better, right? Pat

Definitely the best render I've seen so far. Love the demon looking tail lights, vents and everything else about the overall design except for two things, the split exhaust tips and the c7 half and half rear fascia/diffuser. The c7 is a stunning car from every angle (ignoring the rear fascia/diffuser that is) and this car will be as well. If the tail lights had a swoop going downward that followed along the vent, making a sideways "Y" shape, they would carry the design cue of the front grill to the rear of the car and make it look even better IMO.

Hadn't dawned on me that they have a mid engine corvette racecar with winning pedigree for generations now that they can detune for the street. It'll be the first mid engined street car, but not first mid engined vette.
Couldn't careless for the rendering, but appreciate the posters who are looking for similarities between the C5R/C6R and Daytona Prototype.
Nice article comparing the C6 zr1 to the C6R

I like it
There are rumors out here that this Mid-Engine vehicle is going to become a Cadillac and that the Corvette will remain a front engine vehicle.
Would make sense to be a Cadillac - more $$$$$$

I just don't see why people think that a mid engine corvette means the front engine platform has to disappear. They can coexist as separate models in the corvette lineup.
Not all ferraris are mid engine, but they are still ferraris. Not all lambos have a 12 cylinder engine, but they are still lambos. Not all McLarens have part numbers for names...oh wait...they do
By adding it to the currently existing lineup it'll give them an actual different car to offer to its customer base rather than the same exact car with a different engine (I know there are more differences, just making a point).

This has too much C7 DNA in it for me. I love the C7, but I want the ME (and/or the C8) to be a more radical departure from the C7 than this render is.

My intent wasn't to disparage the render artist, as the quality of the work is great (waaaaay better than I could do). Instead, as Zymurgy stated, it's too much of a mashed up C7, and not enough of a revolutionary design. I understand that this is simply one artists interpretation of a highly camouflaged car, but it's REALLY hard to imagine that the end product won't look dramatically different. To make this car work, which means generating interest from both new and existing buyer's, turning a C7 into a MR platform isn't going to cut it.

The good: The split exhaust outlets are an improvement over the C7. And I kind of like the rear end treatment, though a bit more work should be done to develop it into a more coherent look. The rest of the rendering is rather derivative; it looks like parts of several other sports cars are being integrated into one. Just my opinion and sorry about the calculus puns...
