Alberta 7-day temporary trip permit?
Hey western folks, I've just arrived in Calgary and getting my car back from the transport company tomorrow.
I don't think I'll have time to complete my OOP and safety inspection and get my plates all within one afternoon.
I've been reading here and there about an Alberta temporary 7-day trip permit registration. Is there such a thing? Can I get one through a registry (agent)?
Thx!

I already have insurance coverage on the car, but no plates, not even from my previous car.
That's why I'm asking about this temporary trip permit, because I might need some more time until I complete the Alberta Out-of-Province inspection, safety, etc.
But without a plate, I can't drive around to get it all done and would be forced to trailer the car!

Anybody have any experience with such a permit?
I guess worse comes to worse, I can find out tomorrow morning when I call a registry office!

Welcome to Alberta! You could probably lie and pretend you are taking the car out of the province. However make sure your insurance is valid though, the fine for that will set you back about 3k,just going out for a drive and getting pulled over without your wallet will cost you about 300 bucks! Also remember your vette without a plate will be a magnet for the Calgary Revenue Service(police) so make sure everything is legit, sometimes the flatdeck maybe the best choice.

Yes, there is a 7 day sticker it is an "IN TRANSIT" sticker it costs 24.95 if I remember correctly and it is only good to take the vehicle to shops, or anywhere necessary to get the Out of Province done on it. I know I just went through it to get my vette registered as it was from B.C. You do need insurance.
I thought that the OOP would be hard to get but not too bad.
Good Luck!
