CARLISLE Update, Hotel confirmation & Maps
Hard to believe Carlisle is only 3 weeks away.
Here is the link to the original Carlisle thread we started back in February....
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/cana...le-2009-a.html
As of last night, here is the list of hotel confirmations I got from the hotel. Beside your name, you will see some numbers...here's what they mean: e.g. Mo Mauri 2/28/2 (# of adults/date of arrival/number of nights booked)
Arun Ahuja 1/28/2
Rick Bennett 1/28/2
Frank Bragagnolo 2/28/2
Lauri Britton 1/28/2
Lauri Brown 2/28/2
Paul Burgers 1/28/2
Dawn Clutter 2/28/2
Mike DAngelo 1/27/3
Gus Dimitracopoulos 2/28/2
Dave Haney 2/28/2
Ron Lane 1/28/2
Steve Leskovar 2/29/1 (CANCELLED) Steve, please confirm this is correct
Greg Lundy 2/28/2
Terry Mackey 2/28/2
Kris Macklin 2/28/2
Corrado Mallia 2/28/2
Mo Mauri 2/28/2
Jim McCrea 2/28/2
Ron McNaughton 2/28/2
Pierre Moatti 2/28/2
Tim Newslow 1/29/1
***** Oliver2/28/2
Mark Podsiadlo 2/28/2
Joe Racioppo 2/28/2
Angus Russell 1/29/1
Craig Starling 2/28/2
Walter Tyschenko 2/28/2
Peter Zanutto 2/28/2
Please check the above and let the hotel know if any changes are required for your reservation. If you have to cancel for any reason, I would suggest you do it soon so you don't get charged.
Regarding driving maps, we are taking a slightly different route this year which is said to be quicker. As a result we will be crossing at the Peace Bridge in Ft Erie as opposed to the Queenston-Lewiston bridge (We will be stopping at the Duty Free in Ft Erie)
While the plan is to stick together, the odd sheep goes astray once in awhile so I would urge you to print these maps and throw them in the car
Map From Oakville to Carlisle Fairgrounds (Friday)
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...7,4.927368&z=8
Map From Oakville to Hotel (Friday) (for those who want to go straigtht to the hotel Friday instead of the show)
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...68&ie=UTF8&z=7
Map From the Hotel to the Fairgrounds (Saturday)
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.615921&z=11
Map From the Fairground to the Hotel (Saturday) (Some of you may be wondering why the map back from the Fairgrounds to the Hotel takes a different route than then one getting there. Usually when we leave on Saturday afternoon, getting back to our morning route is usually jammed. This way is about 5-6 miles longer but way faster as we avoid all the traffic jams)
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...1&ie=UTF8&z=12
Some trip Reminders
- Please have a full tank of gas when we depart Oakville. We will try and find a Sunoco along the way but the first scheduled stop after the Duty Free at the Peace Bridge is Williamsport, PA (430km from Oakville). For some of our higher HP friends, if you need gas before that, you will need to peel off and then catch up
- Don't forget your Passport
- Bring your hand held FRS radios (Channel 5) if you have them
- God forbid we have any breakdowns, but if we do, we will need 1-2 cars to stay back with the fallen warrior so the rest of the pack can move on.
- Once we get to the show, everyone does their own thing...some like to hunt through the flea market, others want to see the display cars, etc, etc.
- Feel free to come and go to the show as you please.
- A group of us will be leaving for the show Saturday morning at 7:30 sharp. Anything later than that and the traffic starts to pile up. If you want to join that group, be ready to go at 7:30. If you're having breakfast at the hotel or the nearby McDonalds, please be there at 7:00if you want to join us. Some "partiers' may want to sleep in and thats fine...just giving you a heads up
Should be another great show (Year #15 for me!!) Now all we have to do is pray for good weather
If you want to be part of the Caravan going down, we depart from the Oakville Tim Hortons located at 3rd Line & QEW at 5:30am sharp the morning of Friday, Aug 28th. Be there around 5:00 if you can

What is the departure time from Oakville, and where do we meet in Oakville?
Coming from Whitby so would like to join but don't want to get up in the middle of the night.

I'll let you know. That would mean getting up about 3:00 or staying with the inlaws in Oakville and getting up at 4:00.
But if it is 74% of the fun????
I know I won't be falling asleep if I am following Corrado!

After a long Sunday morning at the Carlisle All-Truck Nationals I decided I needed a little boost so I figured why not stop by the enthusiastic "Canadian Events" forum area . Thanks for the boost all - we're excited to have you attend Corvettes at Carlisle. I look forward to seeing everyone!
Sincerely,
Lance

Thanks Lance...always an honour to have you pop in. This year's Canadian contigent is yet again our biggest...thats what I said last year. Seems the magic of Carlisle and all our trip stories draws new people in every year...not surprised.
We'll definately track you down on Saturday and pop by to say hello

Just a reminder that the Hemi Hauler (AC's Dodge Magnum) will be making the voyage again, if anyone has largish items that will not fit in their Vette we will have lots of space.
Thanks again to Mo for organizing this!
